plans to give you a hope and a future"
Raising Godly leaders for a country in need
April 2018
For 19 years God has been blessing the community of Kamonkoli through Hines Ugandan Ministries. We are all privileged to be a part of his work and this includes each of you who support us financially and, even more importantly through prayer. Katherine began on her own with Melanie joining her 6 years ago and Elizabeth and Laura coming on board last summer. We are most excited about the many nationals who have joined in over time to minister to their own community w/ nearly 50 full and part-time workers from administrators, social workers, teachers, accountants and secretaries to seamstresses, cooks, cleaners, AWANA helpers, drivers and more. Additionally, many teams visit us each year to share in ministry with us.

Like Christians in the U.S., our staff members are at varied levels of Biblical knowledge and faith, influenced by cultural world views. Animism, Islam and fatalism are major influences in African culture. This month we closed down ministry activities for 3½ days while a visiting team offered foundational theological training. Teaching as well as meaningful small group discussion allowed for discipleship as well as challenges to world views and ultimately a deeper faith in Jesus.

The "retreat" concluded with a meaningful time of commissioning and foot washing as all continued on in their calling to serve Him.

We ask you all for your faithful prayer support of these servants and the community they are reaching for Christ.
Wishing you His many blessings,
Cindy

Thank you to all who responded to our special letter asking for help with some of our special needs. We are excited that our third school building will be completed in just a few weeks. Your generous gifts have fully funded the furnishings for this building. Desks, cabinets, chalk boards and more for 3 more classrooms as well as a school office.

Benard, our headmaster, has been utilizing closets and breezeways at the school buildings while school records and office equipment has remained at our ministry offices in a different part of the town. We added the final grade to the school in January, the beginning of school year. Our smallest class has been meeting in our very deteriorating temporary classroom, made of papyrus and a corrugated metal roof. This will be its final run.

We are also grateful to those who contributed to caring for Katherine in her retirement. We are still needing secondary sponsors for some of our underfunded children. Please see their profiles on our website at

The Ugandan infrastructure is complicated and roads seem to be getting worse rather than better. They are taking quite a toll on our vehicles. Sometimes it is better to drive next to the road than on it to avoid the many pot holes. We need these vehicles for home visitation deep in the rural parts of our community, shopping, errands and transporting children to boarding school as well as for our teams. We would appreciate any help you can offer in covering these additional maintenance and tire costs.
