Off-campus Study Applications Ready - Thinking of studying abroad or elsewhere in the U.S. during summer 2020, fall 2020, spring 2021 or the 2020-21 year? If so, you need to complete a Luther application by March 1, in some cases earlier.  Fill out this form  to request the appropriate application and/or to talk about your plans!

LC Pride presents on Faith Intersectionality - Join LC Pride this Wednesday at 8:00 p.m. in the Borlaug room to hear about faith-based resources and religious intersectionality with a focus on queer identity. Pride members, guest speakers, and community members will be presenting as well as offering relevant resources.

Movie Screening: The Mask That You Live In - The Zeta Tau Psi fraternity is hosting a movie screening that highlights toxic masculinity as a child and progressing into adulthood. There will be a dialogue and discussion after the film to answer any questions or talk about reactions to the film. There will be snacks! Please come and join us! The film will be airing in Valders 206, on Nov. 13, at 7:30 p.m.

Decompresso with Active Minds - Join Luther College Active Minds on Monday, Nov. 11 at 7:00 p.m. at Nordic Brew. This is an opportunity to decompress...o. We will be meeting at Nordic Brew to get hot drinks, vent, joke, and have a dedicated hour where we  all  get to have a break from our everyday lives while in good company.

Peace Scholar information session Nov. 12 - Sophomores and juniors interested in peace, conflict, and dialogue studies are invited to attend an information session about the Peace Scholar program 9:45–10:45 a.m. Tuesday, Nov. 12, in Olin 214. Three Peace Scholars alumni will discuss their experiences in the program. Each year, two Luther students are selected to spend six weeks at the Nansen Center for Peace and Dialogue in Lillehammer and the University of Oslo Summer School.

Metaphysical Athletics 101: How does religion affect poetry?  - Join us for guest speaker Leif E. Vaage on Friday, Nov. 15 at 5:30 p.m. in Olin 102. This lecture will explore the unique, undeniable relationship that theology and poetry share, featuring poems generally circling around "resurrection." Vaage has served as both a poet and a professor of religion in various universities around the world, and will also be sharing poems from his collection, Metaphysical Athlete. Sponsored by the Religion Dept.

Green Bandana Project starting at Luther - Students wanting to identify themselves as a safe person, willing to talk about mental health will wear a lime green bandana on their backpack.  Someone experiencing mental health concerns could talk with them and receive resources, or visually see the support that exists. To participate or learn more visit the tables Nov. 11-15 5:00-7:00 p.m. outside Marty's or after Kevin Hines event. Sponsored by Active Minds & Residence Life.

Winter Bike Storage - The Center for Sustainable Communities is hosting the Winter Bike Storage this year on Nov. 14 and 15 from 4:00 - 7:00 p.m. Luther students are encouraged to bring their bikes to the Jewel-Ashmore barn (near Baker Village) to be stored during the winter months. All bikes must be registered with the City of Decorah prior to storage. The barn will open up around mid-March for pick up. Any questions can be sent to sustainability@luther.edu .

Leadership Project Interviews - We are bringing attention to any participants willing to be interviewed discussing interfaith marriage/families. This interview features questions about different religions that has had an impact within a marriage/family. This project entails an understanding on conflicts that affects Interfaith marriage/families and family dynamics. And how this can be perceived within Luther Community. CEPE Pop-Up Programming: "Unrest in Latin America" - Latines Unides will host Dr. Selçuk (Political Science) for a presentation on the recent social uprisings in Peru, Ecuador, Bolivia, and Chile. Come learn about the situation and the threats to the democratic values and traditions of the region. Wednesday, Nov. 13, 7:00 p.m., CFL Recital Hall. Reception to follow in Qualley Lounge.

Book Signing & Lecture 11/11 - Sofia Samater the author of, Tender , will be on campus for a lecture and book signing at 4:00 pm- 5:30 pm in the Recital Hall.

Chapel is held at 10:30 a.m. in the Center for Faith and Life, Main Hall. Built into the class schedule and rhythm of life at Luther, Chapel is a time for the community to gather for song, reflection and fellowship at 10:30 a.m. Monday, Wednesday and Friday. Faculty, staff, students and guests serve as speakers, musicians and artists.

Golden Gate Bridge suicide attempt survivor shares his story of hope, healing and recovery - At 7 p.m. Tuesday, Nov. 19, Kevin Hines will present "#BeHereTomorrow" in the Main Gym of Regents Center at Luther College. Hines is part of the 1% of people who survive a fall from the Golden Gate Bridge. Since his suicide attempt in 2000, Hines has devoted his time to traveling the world to share his story of hope, healing and recovery while teaching people of all ages the art of wellness and the ability to survive pain with true resilience.

Center Stage Series: Des Moines Symphony Orchestra Nov. 8 - The Des Moines Symphony Orchestra  travels to Luther's Center for Faith and Life to pay homage to northeast Iowa's rich cultural heritage. Their program features world-renowned Canadian pianist Jon Kimura Parker and includes, among other pieces, the iconic Piano Concerto in A Minor by Edvard Grieg and Symphony No. 8 in G Major by Antonín Dvorák.
