Celebrating Veterans Day and our Birthday
November is always a special time of the year for us at the Steven A. Cohen Military Family Clinic at Easterseals (Cohen Clinic) because not only are we celebrating Veterans Day (November 11) and acknowledging the incredible sacrifices members of our military and their families have made to protect our freedom, but it is also a time to celebrate our Anniversary.

Two years ago, it was no coincidence that we officially announced our opening of the Cohen Clinic around Veterans Day. For us, providing veterans in our community with a critical service that helps them find light and hope through their darkest days was the best way for us to honor veterans for their service to our country.

Our staff, who more than half are veterans themselves, shared that being a part of the clinic and providing high-quality and accessible behavioral health services to a fellow veteran fulfills their passion to continue to support their comrades. All of our staff have significant experience in working with veteran and military populations. As a result, many of our clients have shared that speaking with one of our therapists, who is also a veteran or who understands veterans, has often made it easier to share their issues and continue getting the support they need.

With all of our services and events, our main goal is always to make a profound and positive difference in the daily lives of veterans in our community. For the month of November, we hope you will not only contact our office to schedule an appointment, but also join us for some FREE events that include a Veterans Day Suit Drive, Caregiver Paint Night, and our Affirmation Stone & Red Cross Workshop, which will focus on learning how to sculpt a personal affirmation stone and building strong communications skills.

For our 2 nd Anniversary, we invite you to join us for our Cohen Clinic Birthday Bash on Wednesday, November 13, 2019 at our office from 3:00-7:00pm. Stop by anytime to enjoy some cake, meet our team and learn about our services. We hope to see you here!
Beyond "Thank You for Your Service"
This month, Cohen Veterans Network (CVN) launched its Beyond “Thank You for Your Service” awareness campaign aimed at connecting veterans and civilians in more meaningful ways. For this campaign, veteran staff members across the network shared anecdotes on what Veterans Day means to them, what’s important to know about veterans, and what’s some of the most meaningful ways people have said “Thank You” to them.
Dr. Tracy Neal-Walden, Clinic Director, shares the most meaningful compliment she received on Veterans Day.
Dr. Anneke Vandenbroek, Licensed Clinical Psychologist, and other CVN staff share the most memorable ways they have been recognized for their service.
