Rabbi Schneier on
Gulf-Israel partnership during the COVID-19 pandemic
Arab News (the leading English-language newspaper in Saudi Arabia) published Rabbi Marc Schneier's Op-ed in their weekend edition calling for cooperation between the Gulf and Israel when it comes to combatting the COVID-19 pandemic.
Rabbi Marc Schneier, who has extensive ties in the Gulf and helped establish the connection between Sheba and the Bahraini government, said many decision-makers in the Gulf envision a partnership that would marry the Arab countries’ economic wherewithal with Israel’s brain trust, he said.
Nothing in the Middle East is coincidental...in terms of what's at stake if Israel proceeds with annexation, many view that any movement in that direction would be pouring 'cold water' on 'the warming of relations', says Rabbi Marc Schneier on Israel-UAE cooperation to combat COVID-19.
Schneier said Gulf States have emphasized health comes before politics, and that combatting coronavirus “is the lane…where Gulf States and Israel can be most cooperative, while working towards the wellbeing of the Palestinians.”
“There have been some remarkable outcomes in terms of advancing Gulf-Israel relations during this pandemic, the COVID-19 pandemic. Of the six Gulf States, four of them right now are in contact with Israel,” Rabbi Marc Schneier, President of the Foundation for Ethnic Understanding told CBN News.
Developments in Muslim-Jewish relations in the Gulf
As a pioneer in Muslim-Jewish relations in the Gulf, Rabbi Schneier was interviewed by Al Arabiya English (Arabic-language television news channel based in Dubai) on the two of the most important and momentous issues in the region.
In an article about the burgeoning Jewish community in the UAE, Rabbi Schneier commented, "The direct outreach to Jewish people by the UAE’s top leadership is significant and shows 'how far we have come.'"
Following Muslim World League Secretary General Dr. Mohammed Al Issa’s commitment to Muslim-Jewish relations, Rabbi Schneier commented, "Al-Issa’s remarks are 'not a singular event' but part of his ongoing interfaith efforts."
