White House's Presidential Proclamation, "In addition to condemning human trafficking, 2020 highlights the 20-year anniversary of the passage of the Trafficking Victims Protection Act of 2000 (TVPA).

USCCB Anti-Trafficking Case Monitor with Staff at Stella Maris Seafarer's Center in Manila
In December, ATP Case Monitor Joanna Quiambao visited the Apostleship of the Sea program with staff at the Stella Maris Center in Manila, Philippines. Joanna conducted a training on Mental Health for Victims of Human Trafficking and wellness for workers or service providers working directly with victims or survivors of human trafficking.
Together, Jo and Stella Maris staff also reviewed USCCB's new online COMPASS modules designed to introduce a wide audience to more crucial aspects of trafficking at sea, as well as the seafood industry and the legal framework of maritime law. Other topics include guidelines for safe shelter operations, promising practices for comprehensive shelter management services, and fraudulent recruitment practices in the maritime industry. These online modules are user friendly and free to anyone interested in understanding how forced labor at sea is a problem across the globe and what can be done to protect fishers and seafarers. The Stella Maris Seafarers Center offer board and lodging and various support services for seafarers such as paralegal support, medical and health services, and spiritual counseling. Conditions on the sea vary and depending on the situation seafarers are exposed to, wellness and mental health are critical components for seafarers.
