From the Chief
Dear Residents,

Fire Prevention Week (Oct. 6-12) is coming up so it's a great time for families and businesses to learn about fire safety issues. This week can also serve as a reminder to check your smoke alarms in your home or business.

We hope you'll join us for Community Safety Day as part of the City of Johns Creek' Fall Family Festival on Saturday, Oct. 26 at Newtown Park. It's a great way to view fire and police demonstrations, and learn about how to keep you, your family, and business safe.

Please stay updated on JCFD operations, training exercise photos, fire safety and other useful information by following us on  Facebook and  Twitter.

Stay safe,

Fire Chief Chris Coons

Stay safe this Halloween!
Glowing jack-o-lanterns, decorative dried cornstalks, and paper ghosts are all fun Halloween traditions - but they can also be a safety hazard. Check out some Halloween safety tips from the National Fire Protection Association (NFPA).

Check out JCFD's burning guidelines
Did you know there are guidelines for outdoor burning? Check out rules and restrictions and submit a burning request form prior to any outdoor burning.  Contact the Fire Marshal's Office prior to any outdoor burning for approval at

Read more about outdoor burning on the City website.

Fire Prevention Week set for Oct. 6-12
Fire Prevention Week's theme is "Not Every Hero Wears a Cape. Plan and Practice Your Escape," which reinforces the importance of having a plan in your home or business.

Check out the National Fire Prevention Association's video about making a home fire escape plan.

Fall back! Change alarm batteries Nov. 3
Don't forget to set your clocks back one hour when Daylight Saving Time ends Sunday, Nov. 3. It's also a great time to check your smoke alarm battery and carbon monoxide detector battery, as many need replacing every six months.

Check the manufacturer date of your smoke alarms while changing your batteries. It is recommended that you replace your smoke alarms every 10 years. You can find the manufacturer date on the bottom side of the detector, usually on a sticker, located near the battery compartment.

JCFD Swift Water Rescue Training
The Johns Creek Fire Department recently completed Swift Water Rescue training on the Chattahoochee River.

Visit fire stations, request firefighter visits
Have you ever visited a Johns Creek fire station? Request a tour to get a behind-the-scenes look at fire operations!

And, if you'd like the JCFD to stop by your child's birthday party, speak to your employees about fire safety or provide an honor guard, you can request a firefighter visit online.
