Cognitive Testing (IQ or Ability)
|
- Who: Most students who are 2.6-7.7 years old applying to independent schools.
- Also used to measure general intellectual functioning.
- When and where: Scheduled by psychologists throughout the year.
- Who: For students who are 6-16.11 years old.
- When and where: Scheduled by psychologists throughout the year.

Achievement Testing

- Who: For individuals who are 4-50.11 years old.
- When and Where: Scheduled by psychologists throughout the year.

Standardized Achievement Testing for Admissions, Grades 6th-12th
|
- Who: Most students applying Grade 6 through PG, who are applying to independent schools.
- When: 8 Saturday mornings during testing year (August 1-July 31).
- Flex Test: Available on any date other than the Standard test dates.

- Accommodations: Valid documentation is REQUIRED when requesting special accommodations, such as IEP, 504 Plan, or psychological evaluations or recommendations.
- Testing accommodations must be approved prior to test registration!

- For SSAT prep tutoring, there are many groups in the area that offer flexible
tutoring packages.
- You can visit the WISER website for a listing of test prep tutors or contact us directly for more information.
- Who: Most students applying Grade 2 through Grade 12, who are applying to independent schools.
- When: Students may register to take the ISEE one time in any or all of three testing seasons.
- The ISEE testing seasons are defined as Fall (August-November), Winter (December-March), and Spring/Summer (April-July).

- Accommodations: Students must have a diagnosed disability that necessitates accommodation(s).

- The SSAT can be taken up to eight times during the application school year.
- A student is also able to take ONE Flex Test per application year.
- We offer the Flex Test at our office in a small group (four children or fewer) setting or on an individual basis.
- In general, we usually suggest that a student consider sitting for the standard
SSAT in October or November and then, if necessary, take the SSAT Flex Test.
- Individual ability and academic assessment tests can be given in conjunction with SSAT.
- If a child doesn't usually do well on standardized tests or if parents are interested in learning more about their child's learning style and abilities, the WISC and WIAT are a great option.
- There are other ability and achievement assessments that parents can choose to use as well.
