Nemet named World Citizen Prize recipient
La Follette School Professor Greg Nemet will receive one of the first two World Citizen Prizes in Environmental Performance during APPAM's 2019 Fall Research Conference. The award recognizes research that assesses pathways to achieve measurable but as-yet unrealized gains in overall environmental performance, especially for reducing consumption and waste. Moved by boy's sacrifice, graduate student launches scholarship in his honor
In 2014, teenager Aitzaz Hasan confronted a suspicious man outside his school of 2,000 students in the village of Hangu, Pakistan. The man detonated a suicide vest, killing himself and Aitzaz but sparing everyone else.
Muhammad Shayan did not know the boy, but the story moved him deeply. He secured the family's blessing and last year started the  Aitzaz Hasan Educational Scholarship. Read more.

Megan Stritchko (MPA '09) and Marie Koko joined the La Follette School staff in September - Stritchko as the School's administrator and Koko as senior career services specialist. Read more.
Collins named to retirement security task force
Wisconsin Gov. Tony Evers appointed UW-Madison Professor J. Michael Collins as a public member of the Governor's Task Force on Retirement Security. The task force will study issues facing the growing number of retired people in Wisconsin, particularly the amount of money they have saved. Read more
