Happenings @ St. David's
Greetings!

Christmas is almost upon us. Our holiday preparations intensify. Schedules, minds and hearts get over filled.
The Advent invitation remains: come away. Be still. Watch and wait. Make room.
What are we waiting for? That is a question worth pondering. If we are waiting for the perfect holiday, or for all our problems and wounds to be gone, we will be disappointed.

If, however, in the midst of our busyness, we take a moment to ponder the mystery of the manger; if, in the midst of our darkness, we watch for a glimmer of hope; if, in the midst of despair, we know we will find comfort; if we make room in our schedules, minds and hearts for the Christ, we will certainly find the manger light by which we will soon see our savior.

Wishing you blessings as you watch and wait.

Nominations are now open for St. David's Vestry
As you consider ways that you are "Called to Serve", please consider becoming a part of our Vestry. The vestry is the parish council of lay persons, elected by other active members of the parish, who, with the rector, have responsibility for the care and control of church property and the transaction of the business of the congregation. At St. David's, the vestry is also a group that helps the rector, other clergy, staff, and ministries to discern and carry out the vision of where God is calling us as a congregation. There is "business" to which we must attend, but there is also time for sharing and growing in faith and love.
If you would like to be considered or for more information, contact: Ken Courter at kcourter@sdlife.org or Buz Price at bprice@sdlife.org .

The Prayer Tree Ministry
Did you know there’s a ministry where you can volunteer in your pajamas, while laying in bed, waiting in the doctors office, on your commute via bus or metro, on a walk, waiting to pick up your kid from practice? If you ever find yourself in one of those situations you can be part of the prayer tree ministry where the only time commitment is when you receive an occasional email request with a prayer and a Bible verse and are asked to pray for someone for 5 minutes a day for perhaps a day, a few weeks or as much as 6 months. Do you have 5 minutes a day to change someone’s life? We would love to grow some branches on our Prayer Tree. Contact prayertree@sdlife.org for more information.
