September in Truro...
The last month of summer but for many the best... turning left on Rt 6 or going to the PO is no longer a harrowing experience.
Although we lose almost 3 minutes of sunlight per day, our warm surrounding waters keep our average air temperatures up.
According to past records, we expect average lows of 55°F and highs of 70°F. Great weather for plant growth! We traditionally get a total of 2.8 inches of rain which is about the same as August.
Below are some of the activities and events happening about town this month.

Truro Food Pantry
With consideration of our seasonal economy, many Truro neighbors rely on the Food Pantry for assistance during the off-season. If you leave for the season, you are encouraged to drop off any unopened food at the Truro Community Center or the Truro Library in the FOOD PANTRY donation basket. While you're at it, donations of financial assistance can be sent to the Dexter Keezer Fund at Box 572, Truro, MA 02666 or made on line at keezerfund.org. If you are interested in visiting the Pantry or have questions, feel free to call Diane Rose 508-349-3841 or Sally Brotman 508-349-2601.
Truro Historical Society
The Highland House Museum will be open through the end of September, then we will close for the season. If you haven't been to the Museum yet this summer, there is still time to see all there is to offer, including our major exhibition, "Mid-Century: The Outer Cape Comes of Age," and our new "Hopper Room" which celebrates Edward and Josephine Hopper's lives in Truro.
Starting in October, construction will begin on the new addition to the back of the building, which will provide much needed climate controlled storage and an elevator! Thanks to grants from Truro's Community Preservation Act funds and the Massachusetts Cultural Council, the Highland House Museum will be better able to serve as Truro's Museum. Please follow our progress on our website (www.trurohistoricalsociety.org) and Facebook page (Highland House Museum).
Thank you for helping to make this a wonderful 2018 season!

Truro Cultural Council 2019 Grants Now Available
The Truro Cultural Council announces the 2019 grant cycle is now open for applications. Please review the information at www.mass-culture.org for applications, procedures, and guidelines. The deadline for completed applications is October 15, 2018. Please be aware ALL applications must be completed online, and paper copies will not be accepted.  All information and applications are available at the noted web address, above.
If you have a cultural project you would like to share with the community and with which you may need financial assistance, please feel free to apply for a grant! The Truro Cultural Council's approval priority for an application leans toward projects that promote tourism in Truro, provide education, information, and entertainment to the Truro Community through the arts, sciences, and humanities or are such projects with merit that are collaborative and include Cape Cod as a whole. Applications for projects simply requesting salaries and those not benefiting Truro residents and visitors directly will be given consideration accordingly.  Good luck to all applicants!
