Women's Month 2021 is coming to an end. There have been so many incredible events all month long. Next week we will be wrapping up the month with your Keynote event, Sonya Renee Taylor.

Sonya Renee Taylor is the Founder and Radical Executive Officer of The Body is Not An Apology, a digital media and education company promoting radical self-love and body empowerment as the foundational tool for social justice and global transformation. Sonya’s work as a highly sought-after award-winning Performance Poet, activist, and transformational leader continues to have global reach. Sonya is a former National and International poetry slam champion, author of two books, including The Body is Not an Apology: The Power of Radical Self-Love educator and thought leader. Her book, The Body Is Not an Apology, offers radical self-love as the balm to heal the wounds inflicted by these violent systems.

Sonya Renee Taylor invites us to reconnect with the radical origins of our minds and bodies and celebrate our collective, enduring strength. As we awaken to our own indoctrinated body shame, we feel inspired to awaken others and to interrupt the systems that perpetuate body shame and oppression against all bodies. When we act from this truth on a global scale, we usher in the transformative opportunity of radical self-love, which is the opportunity for a more just, equitable, and compassionate world--for us all.
If you would like to borrow The Body is Not an Apology from the Women's Center, complete the book rental form below. Please note, we have a limited number of copies and books will be lent out on a first come, first serve basis.
The Women’s Center at Virginia Tech is a team of dedicated staff who wish to enhance their services to all members of the community by taking an intentional approach toward equity, inclusiveness, anti-oppression, and anti-racism.

The racial equity consultant, Chimi Boyd-Keyes (more info at http://www.chimi.biz) will hold two virtual town halls, on ZOOM, to give the VT community an opportunity to give feedback on how the Women's Center addresses racial equity. Women's Center staff will not be present in the meeting. The staff welcomes you to share your thoughts and insights! For more information, contact Chimi directly at cbkenterprises@gmail.com

Feel free to participate in either town hall and join for whatever amount of time you are available; you do not have to be present for the full 1 hour.

Equal Pay Day
March 24th is Equal Pay Day. This date symbolizes how far into the year women must work to earn what men earned in the previous year.

For Equal Pay Day we are hosting a salary negotiation workshop designed to address the gender pay gap and help college women obtain fair and realistic salaries. Determine your value, create a budget, identify a target salary, and negotiate to get the salary and benefits you deserve.

Bystander Intervention Workshop Facilitator
We are looking for folks who want to take the lead in creating a safer campus community and preventing sexual and relationship violence.

If this is you, check out this volunteer opportunity! BIB VT Facilitator Training is a 5 week virtual training starting on March 26. Weekly 90- minute live sessions will take place on Fridays from 1:00pm – 2:30 pm.
