Across the United States, March is recognized as “Women’s History Month." And this month, Governor Sisolak will proclaim March as “Women’s Military History Month in Nevada” during the NDVS-hosted 2021 Virtual Women Veterans Conference (March 3rd from 9:00 A.M. to noon).

Remembering Richard Walker
Richard was a respected and loved member of many veterans organizations throughout the Las Vegas valley, beginning with the Disabled American Veterans (DAV), where he served as Department Adjutant for more than 10 years. He was the a past DAV Department of Nevada National Executive Committeeman, representing Nevada as well as Arizona and Hawaii.

Agent Orange and the Perimeter Rule
In 1972, the VA established the “perimeter rule,” stating that Agent Orange was only allowed to be sprayed around the outer circle of an area. In many cases involving veterans who served in Thailand, except for those who worked in security, the VA grandfathered the perimeter rule back to 1964. Those who served in areas inside sprayed areas, or inside the perimeter, were often presumed not to have been affected by the chemicals. Read More
American Legion Post 31's Open House
For many years the post owned its own building, and held a collection of historic memorabilia that told the story of the first veterans who established the local group. Much of the collection also reflected the growth of Boulder City itself, which began as a geographical area owned by the federal government as the dam was being built. But as time moved on, so has the post home. Read more
Vietnam War Veterans Day 
The nation officially honors him/her each year with Vietnam War Veterans Day on March 29. Our Vietnam veterans are worthy of thanks all year long, but on their special day of acknowledgement, perhaps they deserve a warmer smile, a more hardy greeting and a stronger elbow or foot bump! (or at least a tougher fist bump). Read More
