The City of Tukwila has been collaborating with the community to develop an updated plan for the City's parks, recreation, and open space system (the PROS Plan). The plan establishes a vision for investments, and ongoing maintenance and management of this system for the next six-plus years. The plan includes solutions for projects, programs, and services that will advance the community's vision and goals.
The draft plan will be available to review from
February 14 - March 2, 2020. During this time, you can download materials and provide comments online, by following the links below. The City will use your comments for consideration in refining the final plan.

The 2020 application is now available for Tukwila's City of Opportunity Scholarship
In 2014, the City created a scholarship program for high school students living in Tukwila. Its purpose: providing financial assistance and opportunity to deserving students for continuing their education beyond high school. We are taking applications from those enrolled for undergraduate study in community colleges, colleges, trade schools, and universities.
Selection criteria include, but are not limited to, academic accomplishments, community service, references, financial need, and personal essay. To see the complete list of criteria for eligibility and student requirements, and to download the application, go to

The deadline to submit scholarship applications is

A resident position on the Public Safety Bond Financial Oversight Committee will be open as of April 1, 2020. The purpose of this committee is to independently represent taxpayers concerning the City's expenditure of revenues received from the sale of general obligation bonds. The committee meets between 2 - 4 times per year to review how the Public Safety Plan bond proceeds are being spent. Read more about the committee

A change is coming: Tukwila's new plastic bag requirements go into effect this fall
Tukwila has joined over 30 other Washington State jurisdictions to adopt a plastic bag ordinance that will help reduce litter and protect our wildlife.
Beginning
September 1, 2020, stores in Tukwila will no longer be giving out thin plastic bags at the register, and will be charging a minimum of 8 cents for paper or thick plastic bags.
