Spring testing season is upon us. Click here for the 2021 standardized testing calendar.
In-person attendance for testing is mandated by the State of Louisiana. Specific information will soon be communicated to current virtual students’ families to best facilitate these testing sessions.

The exams will take place in person at the Johnson campus.
For exams taking place on Wednesdays, school buses will operate and meals will be served. New bus routes have been created based on the responses to the survey. No changes will be made at this point. Details of drop-off and pick-up procedures will be communicated soon to all families who elected this service.

Mark your calendars: DELF Preparation 6th - 10th Graders

DELF preparation for 6th and 7th grade in-person and virtual students REGISTERED FOR DELF
DELF preparation for 8th, 9th, and 10th grade virtual students REGISTERED FOR DELF
LFNO is offering a free review session on Saturday, March 20 from 9:00-11:00am for 6th-10th graders registered for the DELF exam and who are attending school remotely (6th and 7th graders registered for the exam but attending in-person are also welcome).
This session will take place in-person at the Johnson Campus, 1800 Monroe Street. It will provide a systematic review of the exam format and students will have the opportunity to practice all the skills assessed in the exam, particularly the speaking one.
If you want your child to attend this review session, please fill out the attached survey by Thursday, March 4th at 11:59pm so we can secure staffing accordingly.
IF YOUR CHILD IS NOT REGISTERED FOR DELF, this does not apply.
IF YOUR CHILD IS REGISTERED FOR DELF BUT IN A DIFFERENT GRADE LEVEL (5TH GRADE) OR ATTENDING IN PERSON, DELF preparation is happening during regular classes.

DELF preparation for 8th and 9th graders - Partnership with the Department of French and Italian at Tulane University |
|
For the next four weeks, 8th and 9th grade in-person students will have one session per week focusing on speaking skills during their academic support block. In addition to their French teacher and academic directors - Mme Capmartin and Mme Duhesme - students will receive support from three Tulane interns attending Professor Mignot’s seminar and practicum course “Teaching French” that focuses on skills in teaching methodologies and strategies specific to teaching French. We will take advantage of these added resources in the classrooms to target DELF-type activities so that our students taking the DELF Junior B1 on March 24 are familiar with the format and have opportunities to practice these skills. These activities will also greatly benefit students not taking the DELF and give them opportunities to participate in engaging activities targeting French oral proficiency. |

2020 - 2021 Yearbook Submissions Needed

This year has been unlike any other and will be reflected in our fun and eclectic 2020-2021 yearbook! We will feature teacher highlights, best COVID masks, student art, athletics, and anonymous gratitudes; these are only a few of the new sections we will have this year. Below is a list of Google Forms for submitting your entries. We would love to have your participation and encourage you to submit entries for all forms. The due date for all submissions is Wednesday, March 17.
We want to showcase the hard work and dedication to academic excellence that is consistently shown by our students, families and staff. Thank you for everything each and every one of you has contributed to Lycée Français this past year.

VIRTUAL FRENCH TUTORING
1st - 5th grade
|

We are so excited to announce that we are partnering with Tulane’s Center for Public Service and the Department of French and Italian to offer six weeks of French tutoring to families in 1st-5th grade. Beginning the week of February 22nd and extending through the month of March, Tulane service learners will lead small group sessions on Tuesdays and Wednesdays for students who have been recommended by teachers. During these sessions, Tulane students will focus on speaking skills and provide support for homework completion when needed.
*** If you received an email with a tutoring time slot on Tuesday or Wednesday, please make sure that your child connects on time and/or inform Mary-Devon Dupuy mdupuy@lfno.org if your child is not able to attend.
*** After two unexcused absences, you will lose your tutoring spot

Now that we have shifted back to virtual learning, here is a reminder about Lexia! Elementary teachers assign Lexia assignments on a weekly basis, it is an independent and research-based program that students should use regularly to boost their reading skills.
Did you know that in grades K-5, LFNO uses Lexia not just to boost foundational and advanced reading skills, but also to guide literacy instruction?
As students complete units, teachers can use the targeted skill builder lessons to intersect with any skills that were not completely mastered in the lessons. It is important that students are practicing regularly and meeting the recommended usage minutes in order to get the most out of this research-proven, and nationally recognized literacy program.

Please find here the link for the updated grading policy for T3. All changes from the previous version have been highlighted in yellow for an easier read. Changes have only been made for Middle and High schools. There are no modifications for lower and upper elementary levels.
