Cleveland-Marshall College of Law will host an exhibit, " Celebrating Cities: a Photo Exhibition" by celebrated photographers  Jennie Jones and  Judy Rawson. There will be an opening reception celebrating the exhibit on  Thursday, September 6, at 5:30 p.m. in the  Learning Commons.

Jennie Jones has been a premier photographer of the City of Cleveland for more than three decades.  She has published multiple books, the most recent being The Flats, Poems and Images.  In 2010, Jones donated 22,000 images to the Michael Schwartz Library, Special Collections at Cleveland State University representing 30 years of her work. Jones' work will be shown throughout the law school.

Judy Rawson, a 2017 inductee in the C|M|LAW Hall of Fame along with her husband, Robert, served the City of Shaker Heights for 21 years, first as a City Council member, then as a two-term mayor.  Rawson has focused her photography on cities, both domestically and abroad, to help see the world in fresh and distinctive ways.  Rawson's collection,  "Living in Common: Cities and Countryside," will be displayed in the school's Judy and Robert H. Rawson, Jr. Learning Commons.

C|M|LAW  welcomes Dr. Jannell MacAulay, retired Lieutenant Colonel, United States Air Force, to speak at a public event Friday, September 7, 8:00 - 10:00 a.m.   MacAulay will speak about leadership and mindfulness at a breakfast discussion, "Engaged Presence: Capturing a High-Performance Mindset in Work and Life."  MacAulay spent 20 years in the U.S. Air Force where she commanded the 40-member joint 305th Operations Support Squadron, was a professionalism and leadership instructor and served as the Director of Human Performance and Leadership for the 58th Special Operations Wing.

C|M|LAW's 30% growth in the size of this year's 1L class was noted by Law.com as one of the largest law school increases in enrollment in the country in an article on first-year law school enrollment.

Civil Litigation Clinic Students Earn Perfect Record in Unemployment Cases

Students in C|M|LAW's Civil Litigation Clinic (CLC) gain valuable skills and learn how to represent people in real cases, win or lose. However it is always satisfying to receive positive results in the cases ─ to build the confidence of the students, and especially for the benefit of the clients. That satisfaction has been a regular occurrence as the CLC has earned  victories in every recent case ─ four administrative hearings as well as two cases decided by Ohio's Eighth District Court of Appeals. What C|M|LAW Means to Me?
While a student at Cleveland-Marshall, in the wake of social upheavals of the late 60's and 70's, I participated in efforts to change the established curriculum to offer more relevant public interest courses and to promote clinical programs serving the poor. I also took advantage of summer internships, funded through federal work study, with the ACLU and Legal Aid Society. It was during those years at C|M|LAW that I developed the belief that one can be an activist lawyer on behalf of the disadvantaged and make a positive contribution to society. Due to the support and encouragement from faculty and fellow students, C|M|LAW created an environment that shaped my confidence to emulate lawyers who sacrificed comfort and prestige to work for people's rights.  My time at C|M|LAW was indispensable to the life in law that I have led for 45 years.
