Art Gallery
Photography by Robert Ondrovic

Robert Ondrovic is a Somers resident who started taking photographs when he was 4 years old while growing up in Queens, NY. His dad had given him and his brother Brownie cameras, a roll of film each and then took the family to the World's Fair in Flushing, Queens in 1964. Fifty-four years later he is still passionate about photography and is usually found with a camera in his hands when not tied up with his day job as a trial attorney.

Bob enjoys sports photography as well as nature and botanical subjects and has been known to get up way too early and travel way too far to capture a subject because the "timing and lighting" would be just right for the shot.

The photos in this gallery are a mixture of subjects reflecting Bob's ongoing interest in always trying to capture the beauty of the world around us. He encourages everyone to take a moment to look up from their electronic devices every now and then, catch a sunrise, smell the flowers, marvel at the wonders of nature and preserve the memories of family for generations to come by capturing "that moment" that will continue to generate smiles long after it has passed.

Friends make all the difference! - a Note from Friends of  Somers Library

On September 9 at 2 pm, bring the family to a concert funded by the Friends thanks to your donations and featuring John Fiscella and his band helping to conclude the summer reading program, Reading Rocks! Weather permitting, we'll be outside at the doors to the library.   Weather not permitting, we'll be inside the program room, where space is limited, so it's first come, first served. We'll provide light refreshments.
The entertainment programs offered through Friends funding are arranged by our Entertainment chair, Susan Cody, in collaboration with library director Andrew Farber. Susan has volunteered on the board of the Friends for over twenty years! A local music teacher and director of children's choral/ drama groups, Susan's knowledge of our community and its rich reservoir of talent has provided many years of entertaining concerts, plays, and other musical/artistic presentations for us all.

The Friends of the Somers Library were formed in 1979 and chartered in 1983 by the Regents of the University of the State of New York.
