Dear TABC Family,

While there is technically a week of summer vacation still to go, our dedicated staff and faculty returned this morning to commence three days of sessions, speakers, and professional development in advance of the new school year.

With our newly organized academic and administrative leadership teams in place, we are sharing with you a valuable resource as you navigate the school year. Whether you are a new or returning parent, we encourage you to keep this contact list handy and reference it as necessary.

Among our diverse group of returning staff are several new teachers I am pleased to introduce below.

(Left to right) Mrs. Enid Goldberg, Mrs. Hemda Cohen, Mr. Dov Katz , Mr. Michael McGoldrick, Rav Yitz Rabovsky, Mr. Ken Dietz, Rabbi Zev Reichman, Rabbi Ezra Stone, Rabbi Jake Berman, Mr. Shlomo Anapolle, Mr. Aryeh Tiefenbrunn

Mr. Shlomo Anapolle joins our science department as a Lab Technician and will be running our biomedical labs for freshmen. He graduated from Yeshiva University with a BA in Biology and completed his MBA in Nonprofit Management from Touro. He is currently working on his semicha degree from the Rabbi Isaac Elchanan Theological Seminary while also pursuing a second masters in Jewish Education from Azrieli Graduate School of Jewish Education.

Rabbi Jake Berman was previously a rebbe at Westchester Hebrew High School where he taught Gemara, Navi, Halacha, and Hashkafa, and also served as Athletic Director and as an Israel guidance advisor.  Rabbi Berman loves making connections with his talmidim and is honored to be a part of the team of superstar Rebbeim at TABC. He has smicha from YU and an M.S. in Jewish Ed from Azrieli. He is currently pursuing an M.S. in Social Work from Fordham University.

Rabbi Michael Bitton is our Director of Teaching and Learning and will work with the faculty on curricula and integrating innovative pedagogies into the classroom. Rabbi Bitton's passion is student engagement and he is constantly reworking his approach to education to ensure that every child is able to thrive no matter the challenge. His approach has won him awards from The Jewish Education Project and The Covenant Foundation. Rabbi Bitton runs workshops and presents at conferences on innovation and Project-Based Learning (PBL) throughout the country. He received semicha from Rabbi Yitzchak Abadi shli"ta and is currently a doctoral student working on his Ph.D in Education at the Azrieli Graduate School of Education.

Mrs. Hemda Cohen  teaches Ivrit. She earned a BA in Education from the David Yellin College for Education in Jerusalem and an M.A. in Management in Education from the Darby College in Jerusalem. Hemda has many years of teaching experience and also published her first book, Letters to the Teacher , in June 2017 in Israel. The book reflects on many years of educational work in Israel and the United States, provides insights about education, and guides teachers to a more meaningful path as educators. Hemda's Hebrew teaching philosophy is " Ivrit B'Ivrit " and she believes that every student can overcome the challenge of mastering the Hebrew language.

Mr. Ken Dietz will be teaching freshman biology, sophomore chemistry and AP Bio to our seniors. He joins us from JEC and brings many years of classroom experience to our science department.

Mr. Oren Glickman will be in the main office. He is a recent graduate of Yeshiva University where he was the president of the student run broadcasting network, Macslive (and called some TABC games). Many of the students got to know Oren last year as a proctor and he will be a familiar face in the office for TABC students and parents.

Mrs. Enid Goldberg teaches literature and writing and previously taught at Ma'ayanot, Bergen County Community College, and New York University.  She also worked in corporate communications in several major corporations, and directed communications departments at New York University Law School and Bank Street College of Education. She is looking forward to the inaugural year of the TABC literary magazine, which will include student essays on contemporary issues, as well as creative writing, photography, and art. Mrs. Goldberg is the author of a dozen published books, primarily for teenagers, on subjects ranging from expository writing to biographies of evil historical figures. She received her BA in English from Cornell University, and graduate degrees in English from Columbia University and New York University.

Mr. Dov Katz  will teach our music elective. He  has been in the music and entertainment industry for 25 years as a performer and educator. He is super excited to bring his unique brand of ruach and music to TABC. As a partner, bandleader, guitarist and DJ with SOZO Live and Krohma, Dov has performed at thousands of smachot over the years, and he loves spreading the joy of music to his students in the Bergen County and Passaic area. At Camp Mesorah, Dov works with the programming team to create fun and interactive events for the entire camp, while infusing music and ruach to the summer experience.

Mr. Michael McGoldrick  teaches 10th, 11th and 12th grade English, along with Journalism. He is a playwright whose full-length works have received staged readings from professional theaters in New York, New Jersey, Tennessee, and Arizona. His shorter plays have received a number of awards and have been produced in various locations throughout the country. He received his BA in English from Yale University and his Masters of Letters from Drew University. Most recently, he earned an MFA in Dramatic Writing from ASU.

Rabbi Yitz Rabovsky is the Director of Student Activities and Athletics at TABC. Rav Yitz, as he is affectionately known, has previously worked at HANC, MTA, and Valley Torah in LA where he also attended Touro LA.  He has been working during the last 13 summers at various sleepaway camps (Heller, Camp Dovid, Shoresh) where he has managed sports as well as special activities.

Rabbi Zev Reichman is the Rabbi of East Hill Synagogue in Englewood, New Jersey. Rabbi Reichman founded and served as director of Yeshiva University's Mechinah Program for seven years. He is currently a teacher at Yeshiva University's Isaac Breuer College. Rabbi Ezra Stone  is a proud alumnus of TABC (2011). Ezra will be assisting Rabbi Yitz Rabovsky with student activities, the athletic department, and public relations. He will also be involved in Limudei Kodesh. Rabbi Stone is currently finishing Smicha at Yeshiva University, where he is a member of the Katz Kollel. He is simultaneously completing his master's degree in Jewish Education from Azrieli Graduate School. Rabbi Stone is very active in many of the popular sports programs in the Bergen County area.
