Don't miss the last Art Walk of the summer! Emerson galleries and shops will be open at 5PM, one hour before downtown galleries, with snacks and refreshments. Fall Art Education
September through November

Fall art education enrollment is now open with classes beginning soon! We offer a variety of classes for adults and children, so you are sure to find one you will enjoy. Classes this session include pottery, drawing, painting, jewelry design, and more. Also, we offer scholarships for all ages!

Schools in the Gallery Docents Needed

We need to add to our team of volunteer docents for our Schools in the Gallery program! Docents get the opportunity to learn directly from artists about their techniques and processes used while creating the exhibited body of work and get valuable hands-on experience teaching youth in our community about contemporary art.  The Fall session will run from September 17 - November 16 with tours occurring on weekdays between 9AM-3PM for 1.5 - 2.5-hour periods. Commitment time throughout the session is flexible and based upon your schedule.

Little He{ART}s

Our new art education class especially for 2-5 year olds is back this fall! This class is now FREE for Emerson members (nonmembers are $5 per class). Each week features a project using different themes and materials for you and your little one to work on together. Demonstrations, images, books, and music are all used to help direct the art work and inspire creativity. L ittle He{ART}s takes place on Wednesdays, September 12 through November 7, from 10-11AM.  Drop-ins are welcome, however pre-registration is suggested to ensure your spot in the class.

Quick Draws & Cocktails:
Emerson Homecoming
October 5, 2018

It is Fall and that means it is time for Quick Draws & Cocktails: Emerson Homecoming! Show your Emerson team spirit and join us in the Emerson Gym to rally for arts & culture in the Gallatin Valley. Cheer on local artists as they create original works of art. Help us carry on the grand tradition of making art accessible to everyone by bidding on these works of art at the end of the evening. Join in a little friendly competition by purchasing a table and decorating it with your team spirit.  Your first drink is on us along with light appetizers, music and dancing! Letter jackets, team sweatshirts, and honor pins are encouraged!

Current Calls For Art

We are currently accepting submissions for two of our upcoming events!

17th Annual Holiday Bazaar is a juried show celebrating local and regional artists with original fine art and distinctive crafts.

Celebration of the Arts is our biggest fundraiser of the year. We are currently seeking original art donations for this year's auctions and excited to acknowledge the artists who support the Emerson by having a special exhibition in the Jessie Wilber Gallery prior to the event.

For more information about both of these opportunities, visit our website!

RECENT HAPPENINGS

Thank you Bozeman, for making the first Lunch on the Lawn season on OUR Emerson Lawn a huge success!  We'd also like to extend our sincerest gratitude to our sponsors: Western Home Journal, Big Sky Journal, Ressler Motors, The Moose, Cashman Nursery, First Security Bank, Wisetail, Republic Services, Outside Bozeman, Pilgrim Congregational Church, and Montana Parent. We would not be able to bring this free concert series to our community without you!

FEATURED TENANT

Cold Mountain Art

Cold Mountain Art is one of the Emerson's newest tenants and can be found in our West Wing. Nature is inspiring, but the ways in which people interact with the mountain landscape is what intrigues Owner and Operator of Cold Mountain Art, Kevin Schwarting. Kevin shared, "I'm excited to be in the Emerson.  What a cool place for creating art.  I love the history of the building...it's really neat... It has great energy."

FEATURED EXHIBITS

Jessie Wilber and Lobby Galleries
Lepidoptera Ceratopsidae by Louis Habeck
September 14 - November 30, 2018

These exhibits feature drawings and sculptures combining two different species - insects and dinosaurs. Mr. Habeck explores the marriage of these creatures by altering and merging their horn and frill structure as well as their decorative ornamentation. The Lobby gallery will show drawings of his unique species and the Jessie Wilber will display sculptures made from foam and resin. This is sure to be an enriching and educational exhibition integrating art, science and a whole lot of fun!

"Diabloceratops" by Louis Habeck.        Work by Louis Habeck

Weaver Room Gallery
Natural Wood by David Lustig
September 7 - November 25, 2018
"Windfall" by David Lustig

"Getting outside is good for the soul. Through my artwork, I try to bring the outside in. Using a variety of natural media, I attempt to capture a memory of nature and to recall its beauty and tranquility. I feel very lucky to be able to create art using nature's palette, and that it allows my family to get out and explore the rivers and forests of Montana." - David Lustig

Join us for the opening reception and Art Walk on September 14 from 5 - 8 PM.

All of our galleries are free and open to the public.
