The St. Catharines Arts Awards recognize and celebrate excellence in all areas of artistic contribution and creation
The Arts Awards seek to increase the visibility of St. Catharines’ artists and cultural industries; honour cultural leaders and their achievements; and cultivate financial and volunteer support for the arts sector.
We call on you to nominate! Nominees must be a resident of St. Catharines or have made a significant contribution to the St. Catharines Arts Community.
Artists, administrators and volunteers will be recognized to represent the St. Catharines community through their commitment, talent, and contribution to the community in the following categories:
- Arts in Education
- Emerging Artist
- Established Artist
- Making a Difference
- Patron of the Arts

- A fall intake will also receive applications for a Sept. 23 deadline.
- Development funding is designed for small and emerging arts organizations, artist ad-hoc groups, non-profit organizations leading culture-related projects and individuals leading community-engagement activities.

Artists were asked to engage with the truths of Indigenous experiences in Canada and address meaningful reconciliation as we move forward together as a community.

Join Norm Foster, award-winning Canadian playwright and Order of Canada recipient, for an online, four-week playwriting workshop. Limited to 10 participants per session
There are 2 separate four-week sessions to choose from. Sessions run from April 20 to May 13, 2021 on your choice of Tuesday or Thursday evenings.

The City updates its COVID-19 webpage frequently as new details become available.
Mandatory Masks By-Law
St. Catharines by-law requires owners and/or operators of enclosed public spaces, to require mask use by those entering their establishments, in addition to the provision of hand sanitizer at entrances. The Niagara Region has also passed a mandatory mask by-law that applies to the entirety of Niagara, with further stipulations and exemptions including the requirement that children five and older wear a face covering.

Canada Council For the Arts: Digital Now Program
Provides groups, collectives, and arts organizations with grants to develop, create, adapt, produce, promote, disseminate, and optimize their digital artistic content or hybrid activities that combine digital and in-person dissemination.
Deadline: April 28
Canada Council For the Arts: Explore and Create Program
Increased funding for the Research and Creation; and Concept to Realization components. The investment will benefit artists, arts groups, and arts organizations.

Connections: Pan-global Reflections by Artists in Lockdown
CAPACOA invited artists to share the experiences that informed the creation of their work during lockdown, and to discuss the role of the artist and presenter in their community. The artists ranged from across the art forms, representing a multi-disciplinary breadth of work from all provinces and territories across Canada and around the globe.
