Dear Friends,
Another year of Thanksgiving has come and gone, and this has been another year we were blown away by the kindness and generosity of our community members.
I guess we shouldn't be surprised because we know how lucky we are to be surrounded and supported by such caring families and neighbors, but we cannot thank you enough for all you do to bring light and life to our communities.
We hope you had a splendid holiday full of peace and gratitude and we look forward to celebrating this December's holidays with you as we wrap up the decade with joy and compassion.
We are thankful for you.
With Care,
Your Friends at CAN

What Is Happening at CAN?

This November, the CAN Art & Design program created beautiful Thanks-Giving Trees at each of CAN's locations. The students wrote on fall leaves what they were thankful for this year and everyone's gratitude was on display in the community centers.
Some Thanks-Giving Tree leaves read:
I Am Thankful For...
- Bryant
- All the female role models in my life
- Friends
- A warm home and some good food
- Having a safe place to live
- Fall days
- Michigan football
- Myself
- Mom
- My dog
- My birth
- Snacks
- Dinosaurs
- Colors
- Family

Asthma Event with UM College of Pharmacy
|
|
The University of Michigan College of Pharmacy has been partnering with CAN for years, sending future pharmacists and kinesiologists to volunteer with CAN's children & youth to get out into Ann Arbor and build relationships with community members.
This year, a group of volunteers designed and organized asthma-related informational activities for CAN's elementary students, where they made mucus with "ooblec," checked out inhalers and talked about how they help people with asthma, and drew "goal" thermometers for diet and exercise.
Thanks to these UM students who are dedicated to promoting health and wellness for all children, youth, and families!

CAN's new Director of Mitchell Programs & Services, the lovely Ms. Ebony Watson, threw an amazing Homework Diner in partnership with EMU's Social Work students and Mitchell Elementary.
Families whose children attend CAN's After School Program at Mitchell, educators, and CAN staff came together to eat some delicious comfort food, participate in fun and educational activities, and spend some quality time together as a community.

The Generosity Project visited the Bryant After School Program for elementary students. Lindsay (pictured below) read a story about generosity and then the students participated in a project that will be given to children at the
Whaley Children's Center.
Thank you for sharing your kindness and the joy of "paying it forward" this Thanksgiving season!
