Keeping Track Of Your Catches
Whether you are looking to document your personal best, or cull up ounces to win your local club tournament a digital scale is an essential tool for today's angler. While handheld scales have been around for quite some time, new advancements have made scales more accurate, helping anglers keep track of their catches. The Bass Pro Tour relies on the Brecknell ElectroSamson scale to decide who takes home huge checks at their events, utilizing a catch, weigh, release format. Numerous tour level anglers have been using the Rapala Touch Screen Tournament Scale , which is one of the top selling digital scales on the market.

Pirch's Close Encounters
You may know Payson, AZ Pro Clifford Pirch as the Bassmaster Elite Series professional that weighed in a mind boggling 34 pound limit at the St. Johns River earlier in the year, but others know him for his expertise in the hunting world. Pirch who is a world class elk guide, has been tracking and hunting since he was a young boy with his Dad. Along the way Pirch has had numerous close encounters with various critters that inhabit his native state of Arizona. One particular encounter with a mountain lion had the attention of anglers and media alike at a recent media event. Pirch recounted an encounter with a wounded mountain lion that would make any hardened outdoorsman's heart likely skip a beat. "I had wounded a big mountain lion that scurried into a tree to get away. My Dad insisted that I go in and finish what I had started, not wanting the cat to suffer. As it was getting darker you couldn't see exactly where the mountain lion had gone, or if it was even in the tree at all. As I climbed the tree I stopped on a branch to get my bearings and felt something rubbing against the back of my neck. To my surprise it was the tail of the big cat, which was sitting on a branch right above my head hidden from sight. Needless to say that was an unwanted surprise." Pirch concluded. Pirch was recently stalked by another mountain lion during elk hunts. Check out the video here .
