Superintendent's Message
A Message from Superintendent Layton
Last week was Counselor Appreciation Week in Malakoff ISD. We are fortunate to have some great counselors on all of our campuses and are even more lucky to have Larry Brisendine, who serves many of our kids throughout the entire district. Make sure you thank all of our hard-working counselors for all of the work they do for our kids.

Our girl’s basketball team won the district championship and have a game on Monday night against Whitney at Mexia High School. Come out and support our girls as they begin their playoff run.

Our boy’s basketball team won the district championship on Friday night with their win against Rice High School. It was a great win for our boys, and I want to let everyone know how proud I was of our community on Friday night.

Baseball has started scrimmaging. The field looks great, and it is fantastic to see everyone out on the baseball field. Softball has also been playing and looking great as well. With softball and baseball comes warmer weather, so come out and enjoy watching these two teams play this spring.

Malakoff Middle School had a successful Valentine’s Day dance on Thursday night. The dance was well attended, and everyone had a great time.

On February 27th, Tool Elementary will be hosting its annual Dairy Queen night at the Seven Points Dairy Queen. This is always a fun night. Come watch Tool Elementary take over the restaurant, get some great food, and support Tool Elementary School.

Finally, on Saturday night, the Malakoff Education Foundation had its first Gala at the Athens Country Club. The event had over 150 people in attendance. Jace Robertson had the crowd laughing, and he inspired us all as well. Thank you so much to the MEF board and staff of MISD, who made this event one to remember. It was a fantastic night for Malakoff ISD.

Better Together
We hope everyone enjoyed their 4 day weekend! Things are still rocking along here at MES!  We highly encourage your child to participate in the BIG KAHUNA Fundraiser. The profits from this fundraiser will go to purchase some awesome stuff for our students. We hope we have huge participation!
Just a reminder that 2nd graders who are bus riders will no longer have tutoring after school. Students and teachers are gearing up for another round of 9 week assessments in order for us to get data on where students need help.
Lets get another week rocking here at MES!!! BETTER TOGETHER!!!
