Remarriage Rate Consistently Higher for Men
Mirroring trends in the overall marriage rate, the remarriage rate has declined from 33 remarriages per 1,000 divorced or widowed men and women to 28 remarriages since 2008. Further, the remarriage rate is consistently higher for men; in 2016, men had a remarriage rate of 39 compared to a rate of 21 among women. In this recent profile, we examine change in rates by educational attainment, race/ethnicity, and nativity by gender. Check out Change in the U.S. Remarriage Rate, 2008 and 2016 (FP-18-16).
