There's a reason it's called a 'Challenge'
|
Congratulations to all racers who competed in this year's Lake Ontario 300 Challenge.
Of the 84 boats who crossed the Start Line only seven retired from racing this year despite the minimal and frustrating winds that settled over the lake on Monday July 15th.
We had a great showing at Lake Shore YC on Friday, July 19th for the Flag Ceremony where we celebrated all participants and boats who finishing first, second and third were awarded with their 2019 flags courtesy of North Sails. Great food, superb entertainment, and the hospitality, once again, of the folks at LSYC made this event special. During the event, Steve Reid, sponsor of the youth crew on Still Knot Working, acknowledged the accomplishments of his team and outlined his own challenge to all the yacht clubs on the lake. Details below.
.
Although these events are now in the book for 2019, there are still LOSHRS events coming up including the hundred mile race on August 17th and the weekend series on September 14th and 15th to Port Dalhousie and back.

Youth crew on 'Still Knot Working' record a first, AND a 1st Place Finish!
|
Not only did the youthful crew of Still Knot Working represent the youngest aged crew to enter and race in the 2019 LO300, but this group took FIRST PLACE in the Flying Sails, Fully Crewed1 division on the Scotch Bonnet course. Steve Reid sponsored the crew and is the owner of Still Not Working, a C&C 27 MK-V from EYC. At the Flag Ceremony on Friday, July 19th he challenged all clubs on the lake to put together a youth crew and register for the 2020 LO300 Challenge. Steve is available to join an event at your club to speak about this challenge. You can contact him at
