NJCEC 2020/2021 Scholarship Update |
|
The deadline for our 2020/2021 scholarship has been extended to March 20th!
The New Jersey Council for Exceptional Children will award several scholarships annually, ranging from $250.00 to $1,000.00 to high school seniors who are disabled and who will be pursuing some form of post-secondary education or training.
To be eligible, an individual must email a completed packet to:

EAI is no stranger to NJCEC. If you have ever attended a NJCEC conference, usually held at Ramapo College, you received their conference gift of a blue cloth bag. NJCEC Thanks Sparta Township Public Schools for Leading the Inclusive Way

The Sparta Township Public School District in Sparta, NJ, has taken a bold stand to address racial equity to develop an inclusive school community. In honor of Black History Month, the school culture and climate committee Sparta C3 Racial Equity Taskforce led by Dr. Saskia Brown and the Sparta Diversity Council led by Mr. Scott Kercher worked on a collaborative project with students, parents, and staff called Our Voices United. Our Voices United brings awareness to racialized experiences and unites the community in the shared value of humanity to ensure a welcoming place for all.
Dr. Brown said, "our students have called us to the task, and we can no longer sit silently on the matter of race. I understand these conversations are uncomfortable, but racial equity is not a political issue; it is a human issue. I am fortunate to be part of a community filled with so many individuals committed to this work. This work is not about me but about them. Racial equity and inclusion are not a Sparta issue; this is a national issue that impacts our community. There are so many great things happening in our district, this is just another one. The Sparta C3 committee is not just about racial equity. We work to support areas of social-emotional learning, mental wellness, and staff morale to ensure a positive school culture and climate."
