Dear Friend of CCSD93,
Dual Language Town Hall Meeting Recap
On Wednesday night, CCSD93 Assistant Superintendent for Teaching, Learning & Innovation Jonathan Zimmermann, Director of English Language Services Mireya Sanchez, and I hosted a Town Hall Meeting regarding the scenarios being considered for consolidating CCSD93's Dual Language program into a single building. We discussed how the program has advanced in its five years, how it benefits students, what is guiding the district's decisions regarding consolidation, and what it would look like for both Dual Language and non-Dual Language families if the program were moved entirely to Cloverdale, Elsie Johnson, or Roy DeShane. This was followed by a Q and A from in-person and online audience members.
The following three scenarios are the three full-school consolidation scenarios being considered.
There are also scenarios where we phase in the program starting with kindergarteners next year at a single school to achieve a consolidated Dual Language school at Cloverdale, Elsie Johnson, or Roy DeShane by the time that group reaches 5th grade. A final scenario being considered is researching further and including the parent voice on our Dual Language Committee to make a recommendation next year for the 2021-22 school year. A decision will be made before Kindergarten Registration on March 24.

If you did not have the opportunity, please review the Dual Language Town Hall video linked below to gain a fuller understanding of the factors leading up to consolidation and potential scenarios. You can find the event's slideshow linked here. We will follow up with a document of all of the questions and answers from the evening within 10 business days of the event.
