Donate Now to the PTO and MPAEF!
Welcome to another fantastic year at Hillview and the beginning of our annual fundraising campaign to keep our schools among the best in California. We've made some exciting changes:
With your donation of $1,500/student, the MPAEF allows the district to fund critical programs at Hillview including:
-
4
7 electives
spanning
music, coding, and after-school sports, which allow your children to find a place where they belong
-
Mental health safety
for your children, including on-site guidance counselors, mental health therapists, psychologists, and a wellness coordinator
-
Traditions that foster community,
including Grad night, Greek Olympics, Hawkapalooza, Relay for Life, and the Decades Dance
-
One of the
smallest middle school class sizes
in the
Bay Area
|
With your donation of $250/student, the PTO funds many important programs at Hillview, including:
-
Over
20 teacher-led lunchtime clubs
where students can connect over common interests such as dance, service, anime, and even classical musicals
-
Recognition programs
that honor students for their contributions and accomplishments, from our weekly "Hawk Hurrahs," to our "Student of the Month," to trimesterly Honor Roll
-
A variety of after-school programs
to support academics, such as drop-in Homework Center, targeted tutoring in Math Clinic, and mentorship in HawkStars and Flight School

Our speakers include Jeff Weiner (LinkedIn CEO,) Frank DeAngelis (former principal of Columbine High School,) Jo Boaler (Stanford math professor,) and many others. Check out the event descriptions and the full schedule on our website here and mark your calendars! You won't want to miss these events! All events are free to the public and held at Hillview PAC. Free onsite childcare and pizza are available for potty-trained children. Light snacks and beverages will be provided for attendees. Join us for our first event!
"Restorative Parenting: Introducing the Restorative Practices Used at School for Home,"
Monday, September 17, 6:30 p.m., Hillview PAC. A presentation by Karen Junker, a certified trainer by the International Institute for Restorative Practices.
Meet Danny Chui, New Assistant Principal at Hillview
Mr. Chui worked in the educational non-profit sector for ten years, starting off as a teacher in the Western A
ddition before running his own site for six years. He eventually went back to his old high school to become a full-time social science teacher after graduating from Cal. While doing that, he earned a couple of national teaching awards from Stanford and The University of Illinois, Chicago. He then went on to become a Dean and then Vice Principal within the same school district. Last year, he won an outstanding administrator award from the California PTA. He is looking forward to being an ardent observer at Hillview, learning its culture, and developing relationships with the students and staff. He considers himself proactive and deliberate when it comes to discipline and restorative practices.
Outside of the education world, you'll generally find him running. For about six years, he was a super competitive distance runner, completing several full marathons, a couple of ultramarathons, and many, many half-marathons. He also took on three Tough Mudder races and five Urbanathlons.
