Trauma 101 & PAX Tools Virtual Workshops August 26

Co-Sponsored by Educators of Presbytery of the Miami Valley

Daughter and Father ADAMHS Board of Montgomery County will present two virtual workshops for people working with children and youth on Wednesday, August 26. The workshops will offer ways to help all kids to work through pain and suffering in this challenging time.

These free workshops on August 26 are co-sponsored by Educators of the Presbytery of the Miami Valley and The Blessing Center.

Trauma 101 (10:00 A.M.- noon): This 2-hour virtual course provides a foundational overview and awareness of trauma; focusing on its effects on young people, and how those working with children/youth can design an environment that is trauma-informed. You will increase your awareness of trauma and its prevalence, especially in this time of upheaval in society, and be enabled to identify practical ways to create Trauma-Informed programming for children and youth.

PAX Tools (1:00-4:15 P.M.): This 3-hour virtual course explores "PAX Tools" a collection of evidence-based, trauma-informed strategies to improve cooperation and self-regulation with children and youth. PAX Tools draws on decades of science to create strategies that support parents, teachers, youth workers, and other caring adults to create a nurturing environment that ultimately helps kids thrive!

Racial Justice Resources from PMV

Racial Justice"Racism is the opposite of what God intends for humanity. It is the rejection of the other, which is entirely contrary to the Word of God incarnate in Jesus Christ. Racism is a lie about our fellow human beings, for it says that some are less than others. Because of our biblical understanding of who God is and what God intends for humanity, the PC(USA) must stand against, speak against, and work against racism." -Presbyterian Church (U.S.A.)

Presbytery of the Miami Valley is assembling a list of resources to help equip churches to work against racism and seek racial justice.
