Last Minute Help Needed for IHN
PPPC has once again rallied to support our commitment to mission under the leadership and dedicated service of Jack and Dot Tolley, despite the migration of members to Florida this winter and other commitments and obligations from our regular IHN volunteers.

We still need a few more volunteers especially two overnight hosts for Friday, February 28.

Members can bring a spouse or a friend for an "evening out" to support this wonderful program that provides coordinated and thoughtful assistance to families working and saving for a home of their own. Please speak with Dot or call the church office at 732-899-0587, if you are able to help.

Thank you to those who have already signed up. Even though the number of people in the program can always change, we are expecting a full house. The maximum number of families in the program at one time is 15. Families will be arriving on Sunday, February 23 and staying through the week.

Please note: Ash Wednesday Supper and Service will still be held in Wilton Hall while IHN is here.
Your help makes a difference and is appreciated
Ash Wednesday February 26
Join us this coming Wednesday as we formally enter the season of Lent with the Ash Wednesday service, a service already known in the 8 th  century.

With this service we enter into a season of introspection, self-examination, and repentance.

The imposition of ashes is the culminating act (which utilizes palms from the previous year’s Palm/Passion Sunday) but also included in the service are familiar scripture readings, anthems by the choir, changing of the paraments, and the burial of the alleluias until Resurrection of our Lord (Easter) Sunday.

We will gather on Wednesday, February 26 in Wilton Hall for a soup supper at 6:00 p.m. followed by a worship service with imposition of ashes to begin at 7:00 p.m. Please plan to bring a pot of soup or a loaf of unsliced bread to share. Sign-up sheets for soup donations are located by the Soup Pot in the narthex; or sign up by emailing Kim in the church office. Please join us as we enter the 40 days of Lent together. Come together as a family; bring your friends.
Session Highlights for February
Highlights of the February 18, 2020 Session Meeting.

At its February Stated meeting Session approved:
  • The PC(USA) Statistical Report for 2019.
  • Use of Wilton Hall for US Census team meetings.
  • Reserving Friday, June 12, for a Blue Claws game.
  • The PW Clothing Drive to be held on Saturday, April 18 (8 am to noon).

Session expressed gratitude to the Personnel Committee for planning and leading a very successful Winter Carnival. At least 50 youth attended the Carnival.

Session was glad to hear that Mrs. Kristen Leto has joined the Point Beach Prep Preschool staff as a Nursery Teacher.

The Christian Education Committee anticipates 3 or 4 youth for this year’s Confirmation class.

The Lord’s Supper will be celebrated on Easter Sunday (April 12) at both services. Home bound members will receive Communion after those services.

Coming up: Child Protection Class will be held on Sunday, February 23 after the service.
IHN will be here the week of February 23. We need volunteers for several overnight hosts.
The Pastor Nominating Committee reported that our congregation’s Mission Information Form was posted with the Church Leadership Connection on Tuesday.

Soup and Scripture is back for Lent
Come join with others as we explore "Behold, the Easter People" during five Wednesdays in March. Pastor Eileen will lead the group and provide soup each week as we consider the disciples Judas and Peter, the High Priests, the Council, Pilate, Simon of Cyrene, the women of Easter (Mary of Bethany, Mary the mother of Jesus, Mary Magdalene), Joseph of Arimathea and Jesus. We will look at the Passion Story through the eyes of those who participated in it.

The study will meet at 11:00 a.m. on March 4, 11, 18, 25 and April 1. A soup lunch will follow the study. All are welcome for the whole series or for any one week.

A sign up sheet is in the Narthex.

News From Point Beach Prep
This week we introduced letter R and the rabbit puppet. We sang Row Row Row Your Boat, Rainbow Connection, Rain Rain Go Away, I Can Sing a Rainbow, and a Rhyming Game.

Our Nursery friends played with rainbow rice in their sensory table. The sign language word was rabbit. They made red rectangle robots and rainbows. They read The Big Red Barn, Rain Rain Go Away, Rabbit's Good News, and The Rain Came Down.

Our Pre-K played Red Rover. They talked about why it rains and how rainbows appear. They did a rain cloud experiment. Their sight word and sign language word was run. They made robots, ribbons, rain, rainbows, and rockets. They read Reptiles, Rainbow Fish, Michael Recycle. Little Red Riding Hood and Robbie the Robot.

This week our school was visited by the Tooth Fairy, from Dentistry at Sea Girt, who taught us all about good brushing habits and healthy foods to eat!

If you would like your child to experience all that we do at Point Beach Prep, please call 732-701-9900 to register. Hurry, spaces are limited!
