Pumpkin Painting Party

Stargazing

View the galaxy from your neck of the woods. The sun goes down by 7:40 and the views just begin. Bring your own telescope or share a peak through a volunteer's scope. Help will be on hand to help you learn how to use your telescope if needed.

Learn Your Birds: Hello Juncos!

As the seasons change, many birds head south in search of the food sources they favor. Just as we say goodbye to species like swallows and chimney swifts, we say hello to birds like dark-eyed juncos, which migrate to our area each fall. Join expert birders from Kane County Audubon and search for other winter visitors too.

The Hickory Knolls Discovery Center is a 10,500 sq. ft. building featuring a spacious lobby that soars more than 20 feet in height, with floor-to-ceiling windows that frame views of the oak savanna just outside the doors.
