The ads are either picking apart the competition's every flaw or, what this week's theme is all about - Promising to solve every problem in the world. Here in Florida, the major issue appears to be algae coming from Lake Okeechobee. Candidates, new and old are promising if they are elected, they will personally solve the problem as if each has a magic wand. None is willing to describe how they can make it happen.
As one friend who has lived here for many years stated: This has been going on for over 30 year. What makes me think these individuals, on their own, can solve it over night?
Yes, most difficult problems can be solved. They can be solved by working together and not pointing fingers.
Anytime someone promises something that seems to good to be true, ask the hard questions: How are you going to do it? Are you going to do it alone? If not, who is going to help you and what expertise do they bring to the table? What are you going to do differently than everyone who has made these same promised before?
