THIS SUNDAY'S SERVICE
REV. FLORENCE CAPLOW
Sunday, May 9 at 10:15 a.m. via Livestream

Join us this Mother’s Day Sunday to lift up and honor the many ways mothers and motherhood have driven the fight for human rights and greater justice in the world.

Are you a mom or have a mom close by? Come by the church Saturday or Sunday to pick up a “Rad Mom” button for yourself or for her, custom made by Emil Cobb. Look for a box by the parking lot door.

And for kids and others, write your special message to your mom on this jamboard; it will be read aloud in the service!
SUBMITTING JOYS AND SORROWS

Please send your joys or sorrows to joysandsorrows@uucuc.org any time before the Joys and Sorrows portion of the service. They will be read aloud.
FELLOWSHIP HOUR BEGINS IMMEDIATELY AFTER THE SERVICE
Join our online Zoom Fellowship Hour after the service on Sunday (around 11:30 a.m.). Come chat with UUCUC members and friends! All are welcome.
THANK YOU FOR YOUR GENEROSITY!
Your contributions and support allow us to continue to respond with love and resources to the needs in our congregation and the wider community. We couldn’t do it without your support and we are grateful to each of you.

If you have missed any of the previous live streamed services, you can view them at our past streamed services page. You can also view previous live streamed services on our YouTube channel.
UPCOMING SUNDAY SERVICES
WORSHIP COMMITTEE
Sunday, May 16 at 10:15 a.m. via Livestream

This year we will celebrate not only the many beautiful “flowers” in our congregation, but also the many ways in which we have reached out to help or to stay connected. Both before and during the service, we will have an opportunity for you to share a way in which you or someone else has reached out to others during this difficult time. Following the service, we have an exchange of flowers outside.

NEWS & ANNOUNCEMENTS
RELIGIOUS EDUCATION NEWS
New adult religious education offerings for 2021 have been announced in the Adult Religious Education Prospectus earlier this month. It promises to be a fun semester of classes, workshops, discussion and creative learning. The adult religious education committee is working on new programs to be added to this semester’s program. Keep an eye here for updates! Also, updates will be included in the eNews and on the church calendar.
OUR CARING CONGREGATION
Please consider donating to the Little Free Pantries run by Julie Laut and AJ Herzog, which they have kept active daily since late spring. In order to address increased and unique needs this winter, they have created an Amazon wish list. All items will be delivered to Julie's house and shared between the two pantries. Donations of all items will continue to be accepted as usual at both locations, if you want to bring them in person.

Thank you for your support and generosity ~ Julie and AJ
JOYS AND SORROWS sent to joysandsorrows@uucuc.org last Sunday, May 2.
From Sally Fritsche: Healing prayers for the Peirson family, whose 13 year old daughter Leila was struck by a vehicle while crossing the street this past week. Leila is alive and recovering from her injuries at home, and she and her parents welcome your healing thoughts and well wishes.

From Mick McEnroe: This past Monday, I got dressed up and went before a judge to request my legal name change. I am now OFFICIALLY Mick Henry McEnroe!

From Jerry Carden and Tim Temple: It was a joyous occasion yesterday, to be with other UU's as we spread mulch, weeded, cut back overgrown shrubs, tended the butterfly garden, and many more tasks at the gardening work "party". Thanks to everyone who participated.

From Ellen Jacobsen: We walked at Allerton yesterday and saw the most beautiful forest floor of flowers and all shades of green. What a gorgeous weekend!!

From Mike and Karen Retzer: Appreciation for being together yesterday (in person!) to do yard work at church yesterday. Thank you to those who organized!

From Susan Pierce: Healing prayers for all the "long haul" COVID survivors who are still struggling to find their way back to health.

Please send your joys or sorrows to joysandsorrows@uucuc.org any time before the Joys and Sorrows portion of the service. They will be read aloud.
GIVING AND GRATITUDE
UUCUC Social Action Offering. Each month a selected organization is chosen to receive offerings from our congregation. You may donate to the social action offering for the month in one of the following ways:

During the month of May, we will support Equal Justice Initiative through our social action offering. Founded in 1989, the Equal Justice Initiative (EJI) is a private, nonprofit organization that provides legal representation to people who have been illegally convicted, unfairly sentenced, or abused in state jails and prisons. They challenge the death penalty and excessive punishment and provide re-entry assistance to formerly incarcerated people.
RECENT SHARED OFFERINGS

During the month of April 2021, Prairie Rivers Network was selected to be the recipient of the shared offering. As of May 3, the UUCUC congregation contributed a total of $2,245!
