Join us at Cosmopolitics on December 10
SBWPC Members,

We had an exciting November with lots of activity and hard work on the Santa Barbara City Council election. Our endorsed candidate, Alejandra Gutierrez was elected to the Council. We congratulate her and look forward to her leadership!

I want to spend most of my brief monthly message inviting you to attend our Cosmopolitics event on December 10. We have an exciting program and a guest speaker you will not want to miss. We are so happy to welcome Assemblymember Wendy Carrillo to Santa Barbara. Among her many achievements and recognitions, she was the Emily's List 2019 Gabrielle Giffords Rising Star Award Winner . If you'd like a glimpse into why we are excited to welcome her to speak to our members, check out the video below of her acceptance speech from earlier this year.

At Cosmopolitics we will also have the distinct honor of presenting two of our prestigious awards. Our Rising Star Award will be presented to Gloria Soto, Santa Maria Councilmember . Our Roses Award will be presented to Julie Mickelberry, Vice President of Community Engagement for Planned Parenthood California Central Coast. Both of these women exemplify the feminist values of the Santa Barbara Women's Political Committee. We are glad to celebrate and recognize them.

The Board of the SBWPC and I thank you for your support of our shared feminist values. We hope you have an enjoyable Thanksgiving Holiday and hope to see you at Cosmopolitics on December 10!

Adelante/Onward,

Luz Reyes-Martín

Congressman Salud Carbajal supports DACA
As the Supreme Court heard arguments in a case that will address the legality of DACA, we were proud to see Congressman Salud Carbajal standing side by side with activists.

Congressman Carbajal shared the following:

I am a University of California graduate.
I am an immigrant.
I am proud to stand in solidarity with them today as they battle the Trump administration's decision to rescind  #DACA  in the Supreme Court.
