PPAS Campus News
December 2019
Vol. 8, No. 6
Amidst the hectic days leading up to Christmas, our students are home enjoying time with their families - ready to celebrate Christmas in their native customs. Our annual Service of Lessons and Carols earlier this month was a reminder that, in this world of turmoil, our school offers much more than a high school education. By preparing our students in both academics and faith, we are bringing joy, peace and hope into their lives, which they, in turn, will share in their part of the world when they leave Pan Am.

Thank you for all the ways you support our students and our school. We are blessed to be in partnership with you in this wonderful ministry!

Faithfully,

Mr. Kim E. Warner
Interim President
Christmas Service of Lessons & Carols
The Morris Chapel Choir and Campus Ministry Council's hard and faithful work paid off on Tuesday, December 3, as students and staff gathered in worship to celebrate Christ's coming a bit early. Our traditional Lesson and Carols Christmas Candlelight service is a campus favorite, as it provides a special opportunity for the Pam Am community to recall the primary reason the school exists.

We are grateful for the student liturgists who shared the lessons, our talented choir and musicians who presented the carols, and the students on the tech team who coordinated the sound and video. Afterwards, students shared a meal together and exchanged gifts, complete with Santa and his elves!
NHS Welcomes New Members
Twelve Eagles were handed a yellow rose at a ceremony on Monday, December 2, signifying their selection to become the newest members of the John A. Mackay Chapter of National Honor Society (NHS). They were chosen by their teachers not only for academic excellence, but for displaying the four fundamental values of NHS: character, scholarship, leadership, and service. In keeping with tradition, the induction service ended with a group picture outside the chapel with new and existing NHS members, NHS sponsor Hardy Robertson, and Principal Ellie Perez. Congratulations to these well-rounded students!

Christmas Card Artwork
Each year, students participate in a Christmas card artwork competition. This year, the artwork created by first-year student Aranza Hernández from Mexico City, is featured on the cover of the school’s Christmas card.

In creating this piece, Aranza recalled the birth of Jesus and the tradition of “Nacimiento” that she shared with her grandmother in Mexico.
Give an Impactful Year-End Gift
Samiel
Through your gift giving, you are a vital part of opening doors for the many young people who have chosen to come to PPAS as part of their growing up.

One such student is Samiel Piñeda from Guatemala. Samiel’s parents had been students at Pan Am, and she realized her hope of getting into the world of hospitality was not going to be realized where she lived. Samiel's story is featured in this year's annual appeal letter, where she shares:

“I am glad I came to Pan Am because it has given me keys
to open doors I did not even know existed!”

Won't you consider a 2019 tax-deductible gift to our General Scholarship Fund so we can continue to open doors for students like Samiel?
