Thanking Volunteers & Sharing Services
Last week's Volunteer Appreciation Night included a presentation by the chair or designee from village appointed boards/committees. They highlighted their projects from the past year, as well as offered a look ahead to 2020. The Village Board is actively interviewing candidates to fill current vacancies and positions where a member's term ends with the calendar year. A number of appointments will be announced at the January 8 reorganizational meeting.

This morning I attended the County's Shared Services 2020 Plan meeting. A quorum of municipalities voted unanimously to support the plan. The village will explore what savings opportunities are available to take advantage of next year. There is the potential to save money both at the time of purchase as well as in the form of a rebate from NYS.

Final Legislative Session of 2019
This week is the final Village Board meeting planned for the year. The meeting will open with a special presentation for Mary Ann Roberts. More information about that celebration is below. In addition to honoring Mary Ann Roberts, we are very pleased to be voting this week on a new five-year Civil Service Employee Association contract which represents the salary and benefits agreement for the majority of village employees. One of the notable changes with this contract is that recreation department staff will now be available to work on Sundays. This change enables us to expand access to the Community Center to seven days a week.

There are a number of invitations for community members to offer comments at this week's legislative session. If you would like to spread the word about an upcoming event, please take up to two minutes during Organizational Announcements. Folks who would like to comment on the resolutions included on this week's agenda may do so for up to four minutes at the start of the Village Board Resolutions portion of the meeting. The meeting closes with an invitation for community members to comment for up to three minutes during Visitor Recognition about any topic of relevance to the common good of the Village.

With Regards,
Victoria Gearity, Ossining Mayor
Celebrating Mary Ann Roberts
Please join us this Wednesday, December 18 at 7:30pm as we honor three decades of service by Mary Ann Roberts. Mary Ann began her elected service as a Village Trustee, and became the first woman to serve as Mayor of Ossining. For twenty years she has served as Town/Village Clerk. Friends, colleagues and community members are invited to express words of appreciation during a Special Presentation at the start of the meeting. Light refreshments will be served.
