The Ohio ELA (Early Learning Assessment) is used by our teachers to help determine how each child is developing.  This assessment is not a test but rather a method of observing and documenting your child's learning and development.  Our teachers have been specially trained to take these observations and enter them appropriately by developmental level into the Teaching Strategies Gold (TSG) system.  Together the ELA & TSG help us to know more about your child's development.  It will help teachers determine when a child needs more support in an area and when a child has mastered a skill.  The ELA is completed twice a year.  It is quite extensive so we have created a report card which will tell you how your child is progressing.  These report cards will come home in the yellow folders just prior to conferences.  Please look them over.  Conferences will be a great time to discuss these results.  If you would like to know about the ELA, please click the link below.

November 25th & November 26th will be Parent/Teacher conference days.  Sign up sheets are outside of each classroom.  If you are unable to make either day, speak with the teacher to set up a time outside of those days.

You are so very important!  Children begin school and sometimes parents and caregivers feel that the teachers have a leading role in the development of the child.  Families are so critical to development and success in school!  It is not the material things a child receives but the sense of belonging, comfort, security and joy that is provided by family that sets a child up for success in school.  Simply engaging with your child on a daily basis will help to create a student who is ready to learn in the classroom.  Please enjoy these articles that support the importance of family!
