Eagles in Action
First Grade Service Project : Operation Christmas Child
We are excited to be able to tell kids around the world about the gift of Jesus through Operation Christmas Child. Each grade will have a box to pack. This is how you can help us with our project:
·        Bring one item to put in the box in your classroom (or more than one!)
·        Pick something you would like to get.
·        Remember , it has to be small
·        No food (not even toothpaste)
·        Donate some money to help cover shipping costs.
The sooner you can bring your item, the better (no later than Nov. 20). We hope each class will fill at least one box! Thanks for helping us! First Grade
One Warm Coat
The 3 and 4 year old preschool children have chosen a service project which is called One Warm Coat. This year we have chosen to donate to Break the Silence Foundation, Inc.

One Warm Coat is a national non-profit organization that assists in helping individuals, groups, companies and organizations across the country collect coats and distribute them free, to people in need. Their goal is to ensure that anyone who needs a coat has one.

We have placed a box in the hallway across from the coat room in the church. We are asking that you donate a clean reusable coat on their behalf. The coat drive runs from Nov. 11 th through Dec. 9 th . Your donations are greatly appreciated.
Thank You from the Seventh Graders

During the month of October, St. John’s Lutheran School’s seventh graders chose to serve Operation Support Our Troops - America, Inc. as their Eagles in Action project.
Throughout the month of October, St. John’s students donated chapel offerings totaling $158.55, which will help pay for shipping the Christmas stockings. We collected 76 pounds of stocking stuffers from school families.
In addition to sponsoring the collection drive, Thrivent Financial awarded a $250 grant for our project, which we used to purchase snacks for volunteers, stocking stuffers for the troops, and Christmas-themed and patriotic-themed cotton material for our sewing club members, who made 65 Christmas stockings and 10 pillow cases for the troops during the September and October sessions. Our chapel families made 89 Christmas Cards, for the troops as well.
On October 31, our seventh graders and chaperones brought all these donations to the collection site in Lisle, Illinois, where they worked for two hours to separate and categorized items, and stuff stockings for the troops. The seventh graders felt blessed to serve Operation Support Our Troops, and we all felt overwhelmed by the volume of donations we received throughout the month. Thank you all for your part in supporting military personnel who can’t be with their families this Christmas.
