Dear Friend of CCSD93,
CCSD93 Celebrates 100 Years as a School District!
I am thrilled to share with our community that this year, CCSD93 is celebrating its 100th anniversary as a school district! We were originally formed in 1920 when districts 17, 18, and 19 were combined.

Today we officially kick off our centennial celebration with a very special new episode of Talk D93, CCSD93's official podcast. In it, I sit down with Carol Stream historian and former CCSD93 staff member Carole Ellermeier to talk about the history of CCSD93 from prior to its organization in 1920 through the tenure of its first full-time Superintendent of Schools, Dr. Elsie Johnson ending in 1982.
I invite you to listen to learn how CCSD93 developed from a rural farmhouse with 18 students to a thriving suburban school district. You'll also find out interesting nuggets about Dr. Johnson, some school naming history, and much more. You can listen online at www.ccsd93.com/TalkD93 or by searching "Talk D93" on your favorite podcast platform. Here are direct links to Talk D93 on Apple PodcastsSpotify, and Google Podcasts . Be sure to subscribe so you don't miss a thing!

We will continue to celebrate our centennial throughout the rest of this calendar year with social media posts; school banners; special Talk D93 podcasts featuring former CCSD93 Superintendents John DiBuono, Dr. Hank Gmitro, and Dr. Bill Shields; and more! I invite parents and community members to join in by sharing memories or images of artifacts from CCSD93 days gone by on Twitter or Instagram using the hashtag #100YearsOfD93.

Please keep an eye out for more in the weeks and months to come!
Middle School Students Analyze
"Unnatural" Natural Disasters
Jay Stream students in Mrs. Nauert's 6th grade advanced humanities class recently paired up to research global catastrophes that cannot entirely be classified as "natural disasters," uncovering their unnatural causes in the process. Each group then studied the impact of their disaster on the environment, politics, society, and economy of the region where it occurred and the world. Finally, the partners developed an action plan to prevent or limit the effects of similar catastrophes in the future. On Wednesday, the students presented their findings in the Jay Stream Innovation Center Presentation Lounge. Find out more about this engaging, relevant project by watching the video below!

2/19 Dual Language Town Hall Mtg. Q & A Document Now Available
While CCSD93 announced last week that there would be no change to the Dual Language program for the 2020-21 school year, the complete list of questions and answers from the February 19 Town Hall Meeting was promised and has been posted to CCSD93's website.  You can find the complete document here.

Please note, the answers were framed around hypothetical scenarios that could have taken place in the 2020-21 school year, which will not occur, but they may be relevant to future discussions.
