The hot topic of these weeks is the Coronavirus that started in some areas of China and spread to some countries in the world, including Europe. Apart from usual hygienic measures that should have always been common among all of us – and not only in this period – such as washing hands frequently and properly as well as avoid coughing/sneezing without protection, what I noted is the lack of coordination in the EU about how to deal with this issue. Walking, Cycling and PT in cities remain greener mobility options than electric scooters or car ride-hailing
The growing use of electric scooters and ride-hailing services is transforming how we move in urban centres — but walking, cycling and public transport remain the best way to improve sustainable mobility in cities, according to a European Environment Agency (EEA) report recently published.
European Commission and European Investment Fund launch €75 million BlueInvest Fund
The EC is partnering with the European Investment Fund, part of the European Investment Bank Group (EIB), to launch the BlueInvest Fund. During the BlueInvest Day conference in Brussels, EIB Vice-President Emma Navarro and Virginijus Sinkevičius, Commissioner for Environment, Oceans and Fisheries, launched a €75 million equity investment fund for the blue economy. Green transport set to overtake cars in world's major cities by 2030
Private car trips will drop by 10% on average by 2030 to make up less than half of all city journeys, while public transport, walking and bicycle will all increase in popularity, the Mobility Futures study found. "Cities are beginning to understand...".

The Website of the Month: The European Travel Commission (ETC)
Established in 1948, the European Travel Commission is a unique association in the travel sector, representing the National Tourism Organisations of the countries of Europe. Its mission is to strengthen the sustainable development of Europe as a tourist destination.

In the last several decades, ETC has positioned itself at the forefront of the European tourism scene, establishing its expertise and building up partnerships in areas of tourism, based on promotion, market intelligence and best practice sharing.
ETC has the long-term aspiration of setting up a new unique forum in which public and private tourism stakeholders can cooperate to create benefits and eliminate disadvantages for the travel industry in Europe. For this purpose, the organisation extends its membership to private organisations and academia, through the Associate Membership Programme.
