Message from PAC
Hello from PAC!

Our online virtual fundraiser was a great success! Thank you to everyone for your generous donations and support. We raised over $50,000 AND...this amount will be matched up to 50% through the Shaw Charity Classic Birdies for Kids! We are so grateful. A big thank you to all our sponsors:
PAC would also like to invite you to join us at our next Zoom meeting on Thursday, May 6th at 6:30 p.m. Being part of PAC is a great way to meet other parents (hopefully in person one day soon), be involved with fundraisers and hear all the school updates. We love hearing new fundraising ideas and more ways to build community and support our New Heights families. If you would like the Zoom link or have any questions please email pac@newheightscalgary.com.
New Heights Talent & Variety Show
It’s time to start planning for the annual New Heights Talent & Variety Show! The Talent Show will be virtual again this year.
On May 20th we will be broadcasting the Talent Show to the classrooms.

Here’s how it will work:

1.      Think about what you want to share and have a plan. Bring the planning sheet back to your teachers by May 7th.
2.      Film your presentation or routine at home and submit the video by May 14th to this Google Drive Folder: https://drive.google.com/drive/folders/1G8Tl4Pr69UTYGL65eEHHTaxIdMlQ3yiO?usp=sharing
3.      We will edit the videos together at New Heights and create a private listing on YouTube of the Talent Show for everyone to see. The video will premiere in a live presentation on May 20th at a time TBD.

Any questions? Feel free to send us an email at info@newheightscalgary.com
Invite from Alberta Education: K-6 Draft Curriculum
Greetings Parents and General Public,

Alberta Education is renewing school curriculum. On March 29, 2021, Minister of Education, the Honourable Adriana LaGrange released the draft Kindergarten to Grade 6 curriculum, which is available for review on www.alberta.ca/curriculum.

Alberta Education is holding online sessions so Albertans can hear information about the curriculum and ask questions.

Please visit www.alberta.ca/curriculum-have-your-say for a list of sessions and to register. Sessions will be offered in both English and French, during both the day and evening.

If you have questions about registration, please email goa.currdevengage@gov.ab.ca.

Thank you,
Alberta Education
Way to Go!
Each month at New Heights there is a Way to Go! draw. To be entered, students have to be “caught” going above and beyond for others.

Some examples of this might be: helping out another student to solve a problem, holding the door for others on the way outside, or letting someone else have a turn on a favorite game.

Teachers fill out a ticket for the students to drop off in the jar in the office, and each month, Mr Williams and Mrs Brocanier pull a ticket from the jar, most likely during the assembly. At the end of the year, all the tickets are put back in the jar for a final mega-draw at the end of June.

The winner of the Way to Go! draw in April was Omo from Copper Mountain. Congrats Omo!
