COVID-19 Risk Reduction Assessment
Hygieneering recently provided COVID-19 risk reduction assessment services to a Chicago client at a dozen of their office facilities with portions that are occupied 24/7. The main components of the assessment were:

  • An operations review and measurements of their HVAC systems.
  • Indoor Air Quality (IAQ) baseline monitoring for carbon dioxide, temperature, relative humidity, carbon monoxide and organic compounds.
  • Policy and performance review of the cleaning and disinfection services.
  • Review of the client’s implementation of existing COVID-19 mask wearing, social distancing, and hygiene policies.

In addition, Hygieneering was able to accommodate a client specific request for COVID-19 surface sampling/PCR analysis in certain ventilation systems.

Using ASHRAE, OSHA, EPA, and CDC guidelines, Hygieneering provided the client with recommendations to improve their building’s conditions to help minimize COVID-19 spread in the workplace. Some of the issues observed included:

  • Under-performance of the ventilation systems.
  • Inadequate filtration
  • Presence of COVID-19 genetic material inside their air handling units (two instances in over one hundred units tested). Hygieneering worked with the client to address the presence of the viral genetic material and to resolve the issue immediately. Follow-up testing for the viral genetic material was non-detect.

This multi-facility assessment was an adaptation of our standard Building Wellness Program, which is a proactive assessment to address indoor environmental quality to enhance occupant health.

Building Wellness Program
To address and combat the COVID-19 Pandemic, Hygieneering's Building Wellness Program has been enhanced to provide specific EH&S response actions & services to further protect your building occupants' health and safety.

Key benefits of this comprehensive program include:

  • Third party EH&S review of your building's indoor air quality, water quality, and cleaning/disinfecting procedures.
  • Detailed facility inspection for poor indoor air quality risk factors, including a review of the building's primary HVAC system operations.
  • Best practice air testing services for common contaminants and diagnostic parameters to evaluate workplace environment air quality
  • Review of existing maintenance and custodian worker COVID-19 cleaning & disinfection training
  • Comprehensive report provided with recommendations and documentation relative to AIHA, CDC, OSHA, EPA and ASHRAE guidance/regulations

Learn more about this beneficial program by watching this brief Building Wellness Video.

2021 Construction Expo & Safety Conference
Hygieneering had the opportunity to participate in this year's Virtual Construction Expo & Safety Conference on March 2-3. This annual exhibition provides informative safety sessions, speaker presentations, and networking opportunities for construction and safety professionals including GCs, commercial subcontractors, vendors, and professional service providers. Being a virtual event, we weren't sure what to expect. However, with hundreds of booth visits and many meaningful connections, we'd say the 2021 expo was a success! Want a peak at what our booth included? Check out our marketing page for our service brochures and informative webinars.

Fifth Annual Autism Speaks Chip In Casino Night
Recently, Hygieneering participated in a virtual casino night benefitting the Autism Speaks organization. Autism Speaks is dedicated to promoting solutions, across the spectrum and throughout the life span, for the needs of individuals with autism and their families. This is done through advocacy and support; increasing understanding and acceptance of people with autism; and advancing research into causes and better interventions for autism spectrum disorder and related conditions. This event raised over $500,000, which is used to help fund innovative scientific research, raise understanding and acceptance, and provide resources and advocacy to families affected by autism in the Chicagoland area.
