Tomorrow - May 6. Graduate Scholar Series:
Pediatric Drug Effects and Safety
Nicholas Giangreco, PhD, Cellular, Molecular and Biophysical Studies
The clinical trial and drug safety paradigms are limited in rarely including children and extrapolating from adults. Novel informatics methods inspired by pediatric developmental biology have the potential to reveal plausible biological mechanisms for pediatric drug effects. Giangreco will briefly go over the current drug safety landscape and pediatric developmental biology followed by presenting systems biology approaches that improve pediatric drug safety.

EPIC Conversation with Peter Strauss
EPIC continues its series of engaging conversations with people drawn from our distinguished membership. We continue with what is certain to be a fascinating conversation with Peter Strauss, Betts Professor Emeritus of Law.
Gillian Metzger, the Harlan Fiske Stone Professor of Constitutional Law and now Senior Counsellor in the Department of Justice's Office of Legal Counsel, will talk with Strauss about his life and thoughts. Strauss has had a distinguished academic and public service career, including arguing cases before the Supreme Court, lecturing worldwide and publishing extensively (read more).

EPIC Conversations are curated by Seth Low Emeritus Professor of History Volker Berghahn.

ONLINE EPIC Yoga: Every Thursday
10 am - 11 am and 11:15 am - 12:15 pm
Professor Emerita Virginia Papaioannou, a registered teacher with the Yoga Alliance, leads EPIC Yoga.
No prior experience is required to join. Yoga can benefit people at all levels of physical training and health, but it is always wise to consult with a physician before undertaking any new exercise regime. Modifications will be offered to any participants with specific limitations arising from recovery from injury, arthritis, limited movement, or other causes.

Two one-hour classes are offered each week. The 10:00 to 11:00 a.m. class practices breathing techniques and moves through some basic yoga poses, concentrating on alignment, balance, and flexibility. Those with experience move more deeply into the poses. From 11:15 a.m. to 12:15 p.m., we practice gentle/chair yoga, which is ideal for those of more limited mobility or flexibility. Classes include breathing, stretching, and yoga poses, done either seated in a chair or standing. No yoga mats are required for this class.
