Dear Mountain Laurel Families:

As we are embarking on our 6th week of remote learning, we are all anxiously waiting to see the light at the end of the tunnel, and not a day too soon! However, the CoVid-19 situation is still more akin to us holding a lantern in the dark and treading ahead carefully as we are only able to see as far as the glow of light, and cannot yet determine what is beyond in the dark.

With that image in mind, we realize it is difficult to make decisions about schooling for your children and determine how your hard earned money is best spent in these uncertain economic times. For Mountain Laurel Waldorf School also, t hose uncertainties come into focus sharply at this time of the year as we are making preparations for the Fall.

A limited amount of Tuition Assistance for the 2020-2021 school year is still available through www.solutionsbysss.com and applications will be considered until we reach full distribution.

Mountain Laurel Waldorf School is steadfast in its commitment to ensure the best possible school environment for our students, continuing to nourish their head, heart and hands with its dedicated, caring and capable faculty.

As you know, MLWS was one of the first schools in the area to have a comprehensive online learning platform in place, responding to the mandated school closure due to CoVid-19 with speed and efficacy. We count on your constructive feedback to refine our platform.

We have applied for the Paycheck Protection Program early on and are happy to share that we have secured a loan which will eventually be considered a grant when it is demonstrably used for operational and program costs.

Our Board, Administration and Faculty are meeting on a regular basis to plan for every eventuality we might encounter in the coming weeks and into the next school year. Whatever the course of the epidemic, we aim to meet the needs of our faculty and families.

In order to help us better budget, staff and plan for the 2020/2021 school year, and if you are able to, we urge you to complete and submit your enrollment contract.

Please, do not hesitate to contact us if you are still planning on enrolling your children but need more time to commit. We would love to hear from you.

Sincerely,

Susan and Patricia
