Keeping King's Chapel's members and friends connected each week between Sunday worship services with updates from the Parish House.
Spotlight On: King's Chapel's 333rd Birthday!

This Sunday, June 16th, King's Chapel celebrates it's 333rd birthday! Please join us after each service for a festive birthday celebration! This is also a time where we get to share memories of the year with friends, before everyone leaves for summer travels.

After the Morning Light service, our final before fall, we will have the final Church School session of the year. We have a few crafts planned to bring to life the readings and themes from the last few weeks of church.  It is our hope that many of our youngsters will be available to celebrate one last session before going off for a happy and safe summer vacation!

Additionally, thank you to all who have made this Church School year a success. We had the most amazing volunteers for both of the big events, Easter and Advent Crafts, as well as throughout the weekly sessions. An additional note of thanks to all who helped support the Confirmation program. Finally, thanks to our kiddos for being a source of light and renewal for the community.
From the Sabbatical Minister

This week King's Chapel will be celebrating their 333rd anniversary.  I know we generally celebrate institutional anniversaries in 5 year or 10 year increments, however every anniversary gives us cause to remember and celebrate with cake.   A third wedding anniversary gift is usually leather to demonstrate the durability of the relationship. If the three hundred and thirty-third anniversary were to represent durability, the gift would have to be made of granite or marble of which we have plenty in the walls of King's Chapel.  In many ways durability is what King's Chapel has plenty of. Having survived a rebellions and civil unrest, hurricanes and blizzards, fluctuation in memberships and comings and goings of leadership and ministers, King's Chapel remains a durable institution. To be around for 333 years gives us hope that it will be around another 333 more. I am excited to celebrate this anniversary with you. I hope to see you in worship. Rali

Labyrinth Walk and Potluck Lunch | June 22 | 10 AM - 1 PM
Proceed, [the] Way will open. ~ Quaker Saying

We hope you'll join us! ~ a gathering of King's Chapel friends at the home of Dick and Cynthia Perkins at 333 Red Acre Road, Stow, MA. We'll discuss the nature and history of the labyrinth through the ages and in different countries, then review the simple guidelines for this walking meditation.  After we walk, we'll take time to share reflections and thoughts before our luncheon.

If this is new for you, please join us; if you've walked a labyrinth before, please join us!  Unlike a maze, you cannot get lost, you follow the one path inward to the center, rest there, then follow the same path out.  People often bring a question, offer a silent prayer, or find a new insight into the journey.

Please contact Cynthia Perkins if you have questions and to coordinate the potluck lunch at  cbhperkins@earthlink.net .  Contact Laura know if you'd like to come -   Laura@kings-chapel.org and mention whether you can offer a ride or need one.  More information and directions will be sent when you sign up.

Pride Parade

On Saturday, a group of King's Chapel community members and their friends marched in the 49th Boston Pride Parade. It was a beautiful day for a beautiful event, with mild weather and brilliant sunlight.  We were proud to join record number of joyously decorated cheering, whistling, and trumpeting marchers and supporters in celebrating and supporting the LGBT community. Thank you to everyone who marched, cheered, watched, helped organize or simply sent good thoughts from afar!
From The History Program

This June marks King's Chapel's 333rd Birthday! Throughout the month of June, the History Program will highlight key moments and people who shaped the church over the past 3 1/3 centuries. Special talks and drop-in programming will explore historical "3s," and staff will share how King's Chapel has celebrated major milestones over the years, including the 1886 bicentennial and the church's 250th birthday in 1936.

We explore and experiment a bit, so if you have some ideas or are a little adventurous, this brief coming side by side with others in your church community may bring some welcome fun, joy and/or peace to your day. This is for "drop-in" participation - no long term obligations. Never meditated before?  Drop by and give it a try. Feel free to contact Gary Riccio at  gary.riccio@me.com or Stephen Courtney at  scourtney@scixstudio.com for more details.

Accessibility Assists

Our beautiful Georgian sanctuary was designed by Peter Harrison and completed in 1754.   To make our services and programs more accessible, one of the box pews has been made wheel-chair accessible. Ushers are available to assist those wheelchair users to that pew.  Additionally, we have installed an accessible bathroom on our main floor. An usher can direct you to the vestry.

A sound system has been installed in the sanctuary of The Chapel to amplify the sound during worship services. Hearing assistance devices are available for your use. Please see an Usher for assistance.
