Cousins Properties has filed plans with the City of Tampa for Corporate Center V, a 254,258-square-foot, eight-story building on 4211 W. Boy Scout Blvd. at the intersection of Lois Ave. behind Corporate Center II. The proposal also calls for a five-story parking deck along Jim Walter Boulevard, just behind an existing seven-story deck within the Corporate Center. MORE
New stores coming to International Plaza and Bay Street include Peloton, an innovative tech company that brings members workouts from the convenience of their own homes, as well as a local favorite, Kahwa Coffee.
Cushman and Wakefield listed the 3.66-acre parcel at 1515 N. West Shore Blvd. for sale. A new 16,000-square-foot AAA branch and auto service center will be built on the northwest corner of the parcel with the remaining land available for redevelopment. MORE
Developers of the $500 million mixed-use Midtown Tampa development are seeking variance approval for the project this month from the Hillsborough County Aviation Authority board. The requests are typically associated with projects near the airport that will be a certain height. The maximum height for this specific project cannot exceed 257 feet above mean sea level. MORE
The City of Tampa has approved redevelopment of the Jerry Ulm Dodge site at 2966 N. Dale Mabry Highway. Plans include redeveloping the existing dealership and adding a 52,191-square-foot Rooms To Go furniture center on the property's corner facing Columbus Dr. and Dale Mabry Highway.
Also recently approved by the City are plans for a proposed 6-story, 5-unit apartment complex with ground-level parking at 4523 W. Chestnut St. The site is located across from International Plaza and Bay Street near Lantower Westshore Apartments.
The Embassy Suites Tampa Airport Hotel sold to Westmont Hospitality Group for $42.8 million last month. The hotel has 243 guest rooms, 9,000 square feet of meeting space and a 3,200-square-foot outdoor pool terrace. MORE
The shopping center near Raymond James Stadium at the southeast corner of N. Dale Mabry Highway and Columbus Drive sold for $27 million. It is home to Ashley Furniture, a WingHouse Bar & Grill and Floor & Decor, all of which are expected to stay. MORE
Westshore DRI Amendment and Special Assessment
Tampa City Council has approved an amendment to the Westshore Areawide Development of Regional Impact (DRI) that provides additional development entitlements for multifamily residential and hotel development in Westshore and extends the DRI buildout date to August 24, 2023. The DRI, which is sponsored by the Westshore Alliance, is an important tool that streamlines the process for large-scale commercial real estate development in Westshore by establishing mitigation for transportation impacts.

Also approved last month by Tampa City Council was the adoption of the Westshore Special Services Assessment to provide funding for transportation, security and marketing initiatives in the Westshore Business District. This is the 17th year of the assessment, which provides vital services for all commercial property owners in the District.

Howard Frankland Bridge proposal would be biggest in Tampa Bay history
The Florida Department of Transportation (FDOT) released a draft of a request for proposal for a new Howard Frankland Bridge span with the largest cost in FDOT District 7 history: $814 million. The bridge would replace the current northbound bridge, which was built in 1960 and is at the end of its useful life. The new bridge will be built north of the current spans and become the southbound bridge. The ends of the bridge will be rebuilt to make the current southbound span into a northbound span.

The RFP requires that the new span carry four southbound lanes, two express lanes in each direction, and a shared use path. It is expected to be awarded in late 2019. Construction would start in 2020, and be finished by 2024.
"It's Time Tampa Bay" to Plan the Region's Future
The Hillsborough, Pasco and Pinellas Metropolitan Planning Organizations are planning the future, and asking people what direction we might go as a region. You can be part of the process by completing the survey at It's Time Tampa Bay.

Hillsborough, Pasco and Pinellas will jointly put forward a 2045 transportation plan to take advantage of federal and state funding. They are sharing the decision-making process because connections to jobs, universities, healthcare, airports and activities are important to everyone. Take the survey to say how the region should grow and what Tampa Bay should be like for our children and grandchildren. Survey respondents can enter to win Bucs, Lightning or Florida Orchestra tickets. For information and to do the survey, visit ItsTimeTampaBay.org.
