NEWS RELEASE
ACECL taps executive Doreen Brasseaux as new President/CEO
Sept. 5, 2018 - The Board of Governors for the  American Council of Engineering Companies of Louisiana has chosen former LSU executive Doreen Brasseaux as its new president and CEO.

Doreen Brasseaux
Brasseaux has been a private management consultant since 2017, when she retired from LSU. She served for 10 years as the chief executive for the LSU Board of Supervisors and as the assistant vice president for Health Affairs and Medical Education. Her tenure at ACECL will begin on Nov. 5, just before current President/CEO Dan Mobley retires at the end of the year.

"I am excited for the opportunity to lead the ACECL later this year," Brasseaux said. "I look forward to advancing the interests of Louisiana's engineering companies and strengthening the business environment for our members through advocacy and education."

Brasseaux has extensive experience in government beyond her time at LSU. She served as a policy director under Gov. Kathleen Blanco, overseeing development and execution of legislation and policy goals. Prior to that, Brasseaux was with the Louisiana Department of Justice, providing leadership in Administrative Services, Governmental Relations and Community Affairs.

"Louisiana consulting engineers design solutions to our most complex challenges, and their businesses are economic generators for our state," she said. "It is critical that their voices be heard in the legislative, regulatory, legal and political process, and I am  eager to lead that effort on behalf of our 150 member companies."

Raymond Reaux, chairman of the ACECL Board of Governors, said the board is happy to have Brasseaux on board, citing her "years of relevant experience in education and government.

"In addition to her strong credentials, Ms. Brasseaux is a strong and enthusiastic individual and will serve ACECL with a commitment and passion to advance the strategic mission in our state and on a national level," Reaux said.

Mobley, a retired tourism executive, has been the leader of ACECL since April 2008. The Board of Governors has credited Mobley with bringing stability to the organization and growing its membership through turbulent financial times for many engineering firms.

"We have a great team at ACECL, and together we built a great organization that is now seen as a true player in our industry," Mobley said. "Now it is time for Doreen to take the reins and lead this organization to the next level."

Mobley will stay on in a consulting role through Dec. 31 to aid in the transition.

Brasseaux earned two degrees from LSU, including a Master of Arts in Public Administration. She also has served on several statewide boards and commissions and now serves on the Louisiana Educational Television Authority (LPB) board. She is a life-long resident of Baton Rouge and is married with one daughter.

The American Council of Engineering Companies of Louisiana consists of more than 150 member and affiliate firms. ACEC/L was founded in 1950 and is a voluntary, non-profit professional organization serving member engineering companies.
