Camp Calumet Reach the Beach


Reach the Beach is an ambitious relay race that covers over 200 miles in two days.  Each year Camp Calumet sends a team of runners, luggers, drivers, and chaplains to race as a fundraiser, providing scholarships for children to attend camp in the Summer.

 In 2017 -- Calumet received about 1000 gifts from over 800 donors totally $102,000! Wow! 

 The goal for 2018 -- $109,000!

St. James has an active presence at RTB each year, with several members participating.  From the Fales and Zimmerman families, to Tim Bruce and Sue Olson, as well as others.  We are so thankful for their willingness to run, drive, and lug to make this a success for Calumet.  If you would like to make a contribution there will be baskets in the sanctuary throughout the month of September.

Family Faith Formation Returns Sunday 9/16!
Family Faith Formation is St. James' fun, interactive Sunday School experience for children and families.  We gather each Sunday morning at 10 am in the sanctuary for Bible stories, games, and crafts.  All are welcome!

This year, we will be focusing on Discipleship-learning how to follow Jesus in our daily lives.  Our FFF year will begin on Sunday September 16 at 10 am with a kick-off lesson, games, snacks, and fun.  We will also spend some time during the 9 am worship hour to begin another year of learning about God's awesome love!

Confirmation Resumes 9/16
Confirmation Classes will resume on Sunday 9/16 at 10 am in the Conference Room.  Parents are asked to attend the first session.  Sheri Dumas will give an introduction to the year and will share requirements, etc. with students and parents. Please plan to have at least one parent attend this initial class session.
Thursday morning Bible Study at St. James

Bible study together begins on Thursday, September 6th at 10:00.  The year begins as we continue with the study of Galatians.  Then we look forward to Proverbs along with Ecclesiastes, two books of wisdom in the Old Testament. Hope you are able to clear your schedule so that you can join us in the study and fellowship!

This is an event that is sponsored by the Barrington Community Coalition and chaired by Rev. Dale Azevedo of the Barrington Congregational church and Pastor Andrew.  There will be a variety of hands-on opportunities to serve our community, with an emphasis on helping people most in need.  More information, including a link to register to participate, will be available beginning in September.  For now, save the date and see Pastor Andrew if you have any questions.
