THE FUN RUN NEEDS YOUR HELP!
Scientists estimate there are at least 100 billion stars in the Milky Way.
Good news:  We don't need nearly that many volunteers to make the Planet Miraloma Fun Run (Oct. 21) a success. But we do need a few...

Do you eat at the same sushi restaurant every week? Have your kids' dentist on speed dial? Friends with local small business owners? These are great potential Fun Run corporate sponsors. As you know, the Miraloma community is a loyal client base; becoming a sponsor is an effective, inexpensive way to develop brand awareness and goodwill -- while giving back to a great cause! Please email any and all suggestions to [email protected].

We are also still looking to fill two key roles:

1) Volunteer Coordinator -- this is a straightforward role that already has a lot of momentum.  This person helps recruit, direct, and organize the volunteers before and during the event!

2) Student Outreach Leader -- we are trying to make this year's Fun Run as inclusive as possible and are looking for someone to take the lead with student outreach and registration to make it easier for all students to participate.

To volunteer, learn more, ask questions or suggest sponsors, please contact  [email protected]!

2018-19 SFUSD STUDENT & FAMILY HANDBOOK
SFUSD has published the Student and Family Handbook 2018-19, available here in English and other languages. For more info, check  out SFUSD's  Student, Family & Community Support Division.

IMPORTANT: MULTIPURPOSE FAMILY INCOME FORM
ALL FAMILIES:
Please submit the Multipurpose Family Income Form at your earliest convenience, even if you're just indicating "not interested." The expectation is that 100% of our school has an application turned in as the family income information collected is a requirement for SFUSD.  You only need to fill out one application per family.

STEPS FOR SUBMITTING THE MULTIPURPOSE FAMILY INCOME FORM
  1. Go to SchoolCafe.com
  2. Do NOT click on the "Add a student" or the "Make a payment" buttons. These are for middle/high school families that use SchoolCafe.com for meal pre-payment; Miraloma families are still using mypaymentsplus.com for this. These buttons will not allow you to enter your student, as Miraloma is not listed on the drop down menu.
  3. If you have an existing account but can't remember your info, click on "Forgot Login" or "Forgot Password" to retrieve your info.
  4. Click on the "Apply for Benefits" or "Apply for Free/Reduced Benefits" button.
  5. Follow the prompts. You will get to another "Add a student" button that will work.  Miraloma is listed and will allow you to register your child.
  6. You will see a series of 5 questions. Note that if you are not interested in free/reduced lunch, check "Yes" when asked "Do you want to Decline Benefits?".  This is question #4 out of 5.
  7. Follow the rest of the prompts and you are done. You will see an image of a paper form on your screen. You may download it for future reference.

REGARDING MEAL PAYMENTS:

To pay for your student's school meals at Miraloma, please go to  MyPaymentsPlus.com and submit payment. If your child pays full price for breakfast and lunch meals, you have the option to pay for meals one day at a time or to purchase several meals ahead of time.

REMINDER: SING-ALONG NORMS
Due to our very popular Sing-Along time with Ms.  Rhonda, we have put into place a set of agreements that allow for our students, teachers, and visitors to enjoy Sing-Along while maintaining order.  Every now and then there is a coffee spill, a distracting younger sibling, or a cell phone that rings, but THANK YOU for adhering to our visitor norms highlighted below.

  • Enter after all classes have been seated. Don't move folding chairs placed for student use.
  • Refrain from talking inside the auditorium. Please silence your cell phones.
  • Keep exits clear at all times. Enter and exit the auditorium through the back doors of the auditorium, from the sidewalk outside the Omar Way doors.
Just a reminder, all Sing-Alongs are on Fridays and times are as follows:
    • 8:05-8:30: Kindergarten and 1st grade
    • 8:40-9:10: 2nd and 3rd grade
    • 9:15-9:45: 4th and 5th grade
VOLUNTEER OPPORTUNITY: SNACK BIN HELPERS *STILL NEEDED*
We still need bin cleaners on WEDNESDAY and THURSDAY and/or FRIDAY.  Timing is flexible! Bins can be collected and cleaned anytime, from after 10am snack to the evening. You can also share this job (e.g. clean bins every other week, alternating with another volunteer).

**We also STILL need a volunteer right after THURS and FRI morning circle to set 19 snack bins from the snack fridge onto the snack cart.  It takes exactly 2.5 minutes (hee hee)! We'll just need one parent for each day.

Help support the snack committee by signing up!

What is the SSC?

Please read more about our  Early Release Program  on our website. There is a wide range of research showing that monthly early release days benefit teacher effectiveness, and therefore student achievement.   Read more on this here.
