DAVID REH, OWNER & FOUNDER
OF RAVENWOOD GOLF CLUB,
REMEMBERED AS INNOVATOR,
BUSINESS LEADER

Victor's David Reh , a 2011 inductee into the Rochester Business Hall of Fame and founder and owner of Ravenwood Golf Club , passed away on Saturday, August 18.

Reh, who grew up in Orchard Park, was an original member of Victor's Cobblestone Creek Country Club when it opened in 1991. Later, seeing the success enjoyed by Cobblestone as a private club, Reh saw the demand for a quality, daily-fee public golf facility in the area and the idea of building Ravenwood Golf Club was launched.

Almost from the beginning - when Reh hired a world-renowned golf architect, the late Robin Nelson, to design the championship-length golf course - Ravenwood has received praise from high places, including Golf Digest, which ranked it as the fifth "Best New" public course to open in 2002. As testament to that early ranking, the following year, the New York State Golf Association awarded the club the honor of hosting its' prestigious Men's Amateur Championship.

Since then, Ravenwood has continued to draw praise from golfers, dinner and wedding guests, and golf organizations from the Rochester District Golf Association, to the New York State Golf Association and the USGA. In fact, earlier this year, Ravenwood hosted a U.S. Open Local Qualifier - the 13th USGA qualifying event hosted by the club in its history.

Reh is survived by his wife, Sue, along with three sons, Douglas, Thomas and Brian, 9 grandchildren and many nieces and nephews.

ROCHESTER GOLFERS HAVE BIG
YEAR IN STATE CHAMPIONSHIPS

Among the New York State champions crowned in 2018 from Rochester are, left to right: Will Thomson, New York State Men's Amateur Champion; Ronnie Levine-Ribble, New York State Women's Super Senior Champion; Tammy Blyth, New York State Women's Senior Champion; and Jenna Hoecker, New York State Women's Mid Amateur Champion.

It's already been a banner year so far for Rochester -area golfers competing in State-wide amateur championships, with Oak Hill's Will Thomson winning the NYS Men's Amateur, and Brook-Lea's Jenna Hoecker winning the Women's State Mid Am.

Last week, two more local golfers added their names to the list of New York State champions for 2018.

At Thendara Golf Club on August 22, Monroe Golf Club's Tammy Blyth knocked down a par on the second playoff hole to win the 2018 New York State Women's Amateur Championship in the heart of the picturesque Adirondacks.

Later that same day, in the Super Senior division, Penfield Country Club's Ronnie Levine-Ribble posted the field low of 78 in the final round to win the championship by a stroke. Levine-Ribble finished at 11-over 157 to edge two-time champion Cecily Havens.

RDGA GOLFERS - IF YOU HAVEN'T
ADDED A UNIQUE EMAIL
to YOUR GHIN ACCOUNT, PLEASE DO SO

A reminder to all RDGA Members with an active USGA GHIN Handicap: if the email address in your player profile is shared with at least one more golfers registered in the RDGA GHIN database,we ask that you please provide a unique email address that can be attributed to your player profile individually. There are several reasons for this request including security, communication and ability to connect you to your scoring record.

As we look to the future and the introduction of new tools such as a new mobile app and GHIN.com for score posting, in order for you to utilize these features you will be required to create an online profile. This will require the authentication of matching you to your individual profile by way of your email address.

An added benefit of having a unique email is the ability to customize communications to you. This will allow the RDGA to connect with you for your Handicap eRevision, member benefits and information of interest to you.

Email addresses are easy to create via Google (Gmail), Microsoft (Outlook) or Yahoo!. These are just a few places to go to create a free email address.

If you currently have a shared email address on your personal GHIN account - or if you are unsure - please contact the RDGA at 585-292-5950 to verify your account information.

THANK YOU!
