Join the APR team and save lives at Fort Lauderdale's no-kill animal shelter. Animal Care Technician for the dog kennels is responsible for proper care of all dogs upon intake, including feeding, watering, exercising and the cleanliness of runs and kennel areas and overall shelter. Strong communication skills is a plus to assist with meet and greets with potential adopters, evaluate adoption applications and write pet bios.
Age Requirement: 19 years old
Expectations Personal Requirements:
*Animal care background is desirable, but not required.
*Genuinely enjoys working with animals and is able to handle them when they are stressed or ill.
*Must be available to work weekends and holidays.
*Ability to work independently, prioritize tasks, meet deadlines and be prompt for shifts.
*Maintains laundry, dishes and all shelter chores asked by the supervisor.
*Able to lift and carry animals and food bags up to 40lbs, walk and stand for extended periods of time, frequently work in bent positions.
*Report assessment of animals behavior and health to supervisor.
*Has the ability to communicate well with potential adopters.
*Feeds the animals according to policy.
*Maintains positive, cooperative relationships with other employees and volunteers.
*Attends weekly meetings and/or stays in communication with GroupMe App.
*Works closely within a team to support the mission of Abandoned Pet Rescue.
